Review summary

This was just an OK cruise for our family of 8.  I was expecting a bit more from RC, we had a better vacation on a Carnival cruise last year.  The food in the Main Dining area was good while the food in the Windjammer buffet was just mediocre. We ate at the specialty restaurant Giovanni's Table and thought the food was nothing special and certainly not worth spending almost 3 hours there for $25 per person. The staff was very courteous and helpful, especially when we had to deal with getting gluten free food. The rooms are a tad too small, OK for a couple. We had oceanview and it was just too small for 3 of us. We did have problems with our toilet not flushing on 4 different instances. Our families other cabin had a wet floor the entire trip and had to have a fan blowing on it. For the ship just having an upgrade, more improvements should have been made to the staterooms. The entertainment was OK, nothing special, however, I did enjoy the ice show. The big movie screen was OK, but it would have been nice to have something on it all day during sea days, maybe the World Cup competition or movie. There really was not a whole lot going on at sea days unless you wanted to be crowded in a packed pool with drunks or see a belly flop contest or sexiest man contest. There was no place for 10 - 14 year olds to swim or have fun in pools, too packed with adults, especially when they close down one pool in the middle of the afternoon to have swim aerobics. The Royal Promenade was just OK as well. A couple of bars, Ben & Jerry's and some shopping stores. The stores did not have a good selection of merchandise, which is good for me as I did not spend much money at all. The island itinerary was good, I would skip St. Kitts next time, but loved Aruba & Curacao. Overall, a  good vacation, great staff, but would not go back on this ship.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Food in main dining was good, mediocre in Windjammer. There should be more soda stations available especially since purchasing drink package. Giovanni's Table not worth spending extra $25 on. No problems with having a gluten free diet, they had GF pancakes, pizza, pasta and made food we could eat.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Not enough of activities to do. Not everyone enjoys sports related activities.

Entertainment

why didn't you like the ship? I have heard of all you said on multiple carnival cruises. I had a bad experience on rc Brilliance but this ship gets good reviews normally
