Another great cruise by RichP

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Island Princess / Destination: U.S. - Pacific, Northwest

We had a great time two kids (17 ) @ one older kid (20) and I . The only way to make the cruise better would be to have some activities for the 18 - 20 year olds ... This is not a complaint just a suggestion . The service was great , the rooms were great and ALL the staff we encountered were extremely polite .... Just a great cruise all round

Absolutely Perfect !!! by DennisR9

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Mercury / Destination: U.S. - Pacific, Northwest

Last Year was the very first time I have ever been on a cruise. Their was nothing that I can say about that expierience that is negative. The cabin was very clean and well maintained. Our butler was from India, I think, and he was so much fun just talking to him. Our maid was also very friendly. A very pleasant sweet lady. All the crew were very friendly and helpful. The food was exquisite and the servers treated my wife and I as if we were royalty. I have never been so pampered in my life! The entertainment was just as good if not better than any Las Vegas show on the strip. We haved booked this same cruise again. Wonderful.

Super except for debarcation by BarbG4

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Diamond Princess / Destination: U.S. - Pacific, Northwest

Ship was very clean in all public areas. Attendants give you hand sanitizer alot which keeps down the concern of Norovirus. Sabatini's and Sterling Steakhouse were FABULOUS! Gym very nice and I was able to get the equipment I wanted when I wanted it. The only issue was cleanliness of my room: the rug in my room desparately needed vacuuming- found someone else's crumbs, earring back, and clothing tag- ugh!. The bedside tables had not been wiped off and had someone else's stickey coke residue that I had to clean up myself. Pictures in room and walls had crud from other people. Debarcation was a nightmare. We got to the airport at 8am- no luggage had been delivered. Finally started unloading it at 9:20am. By then, there were hundreds of people standing around a fenced off area trying to spot their luggage and shouting to 5 girls in high heels who were supposed to drag your luggage to you. Everyone was frantic trying to make their flights. I felt really sorry for the handicapped and older folks who almost got trampled in the mad dash. Surely Princess (who does this every year) must be able to find a better way to do things. It was a very sad end to a trip that was otherwise marvelous

The NCL Pearl was fantastic. We had a wonderful time and the ship and crew were out of this world. I would highly recommend the ship and NCL.

Worth the price by EricS6

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Noordam / Destination: U.S. - Pacific, Northwest

The trip was well worth the money. The ship was well maintained and generally the staff was excellent. We got on the ship midway through a long trip for some. As a result, there were several times that as new people we did not feel we were as welcomed by the staff as those who had been on the boat longer. The other thing was the smoking area. The designated areas need to be better controlled as the smoke would run down the halls into another seating area.

Too short of a trip! by AmyD2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Pearl / Destination: U.S. - Pacific, Northwest

We travelled with 3 other couples to celebrate a milestone birthday (50)...Checking in at the terminal was breeze. Fun send off at cocktail hour, lots of energy on board. Cabin was impeccably appointed, and immaculate. Never saw the room stewards then entire voyage. Food was on par to other cruises, although specialty dining rooms definitely a step up. And far less crowded. Spa was beautiful and spacious. Weekend cruise leaves little time to partake in all the amenities this ship has to offer. Would've enjoyed one more day to explore and play!

Celebrity needs a lesson in cleaning by KenM

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Mercury / Destination: U.S. - Pacific, Northwest

This was our second cruise on Celebrity and one that was given to us by them after a horrible experience on a previous cruise. While Mercury was better than Horizon, that is saying that it was less poor. The bottom line is attention to details and general maintenence. Celebrity simply does not keep a ship, ship-shape. Paint stains on windows, fraying carpet, worn woodwork are evident everywhere. Other lines we have been on perform maintenence every evening and also all day when the ship is in port. Celebrity does NOTHING. I am sure they will say that having the maintenence visible detracts from the ambiance of the cruise, but we have to say, there is no ambiance with the dirty conditions. The crew morale seems to suffer also which we empathize with as they have to live on the ship in these conditions.

The Best Cruise We Have Ever Taken!!! by SamanthaY

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Celebrity Mercury / Destination: U.S. - Pacific, Northwest

Our Celebrity cruise on Mercury was the best we have ever been on. The Celebrity family is the best and draw you in as one of their own. Everything from the food, to our stateroom, internet access, activities, crew, the wonderful friends we made (over 909 of them) and so much more was just more than we could have ever asked for. I am literally speechless after this trip. Everyone was crying on our last day because of how much fun we had and how much we did not want to leave our new friends and the beautiful ship. Everything was gorgeous on Mercury, more wonderful than we could have ever imagined. Thank you Celebrity for making this a wonderful trip for my me and my mom. We loved every moment we had on board and off the ship. Thank you for helping us with the planning and being so great through everything. What a blessing this was and if it tells you anything, we are already planning our trip for next year. We are so excited and cannot wait! Thank you Jesus for blessing us with this!

First Time Cruiser ** Great Experience by TracieF

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Celebrity Mercury / Destination: U.S. - Pacific, Northwest

We had a great cruise to the Pacific Northwest. Excellent service. Upon our request our waiter had the chef prepare an India dinner just for our table. It was a great authentic meal that they went out of their way to prepare for us.

Could Have Been Better by Cynthial11

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Star / Destination: U.S. - Pacific, Northwest

Just finished a Repositioning Cruise on the Star. The service was terrible. I guess Freestyle Cruising means you must pay for any good food since the menus in the 'free' restaurants left a lot to be desired. The service in all areas except Gatsby's and the Reception area was terrible. Staff was very argumentative and rude.

Great first time cruise by Jackb2b

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Celebrity Mercury / Destination: U.S. - Pacific, Northwest

I have found the perfect cure for Post Traumatic Employment Stress Syndrome. A cruise! My younger daughter and I took a three night Celebrity Cruise on-board the MV Mercury to Canada in September. We flew to Seattle and took a transfer bus to the Pier 66 near the Space Needle. As it was our first time on a cruise ship, the sheer size was a little disorienting. Fortunately there were many courteous and informative crew members to help us on our way. The ship set sail to Vancouver and we past Widbey Island. I lived there as a child. One of our dinner table partners is a nurse on the island, so we had a lot to talk about. Later the obligatory life boat drill took place. Afterwords, we were able to get in a hour workout in the fitness center, which we did every day, and then experience the fine dining the ship had in the Manhattan Restaurant. After arrival in Vancouver we disembarked at the dock and made our way downtown for sightseeing at Gaslight Town and shopping at the Hudson Bay Company to buy 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics clothing souvenirs. We returned to Mercury for a late lunch, workout, and self tour of the ship. We always took the stairs of the twelve deck ship to compensate for the great gourmet food always being served. Our dinner waiter Daniel and Maitre de were both from Romania and very accommodating and entertaining. We saw a musical production that night which included acrobatics. A large portion of the passengers were local to Seattle, which gave the ship's comedian fodder for jokes about being able to drive to Vancouver faster and cheaper than sailing. The next day we sailed to Nanaimo a small resort town on the island of Vancouver. We disembarked via a ramp to tender life boats lowered to sea level. The 15 minute shuttle to the dock was smooth except for being buzzed by local seaplanes. At the docks we were greeted by local townspeople and police who volunteered information and directions to passengers. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police were there too and posed for pictures. We were made to feel most welcome as every shop and restaurant had a welcoming sign for passengers and crew of the Mercury. We purchased boxes of Maple cookies and the local pastry "Nanaimo Bar". The last night on the ship was spent packing, visiting casino, disco and a show featuring the two acrobats from the night before. They were of Cirque du Soleil caliber. We disembarked in Seattle the next morning and flew home. We had a great time! A dream tour package for me would be a 2010 cruise from San Francisco to Vancouver for a week at the 2010 Winter Olympics and then a return cruise back to SF. We have already booked a cruise for next February with the whole family (who is going to feed the cats?).

Too Soon To End by LeeG5

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Norwegian Star / Destination: U.S. - Pacific, Northwest

This was a cruise we took from Vancouver to Los Angeles. I went with very little expectations after having cruised with Princess Cruises twice before plus the fare was really cheap for a Balcony stateroom ($249). I was in for a big surprise. The experience was so wonderful. NCL observed proper sanitation all over the ship. The servers were courteous and accommodating. The Ginza restaurant which we paid 50% off the cover charge ($12.50) was worth more than the price we paid.

Terrible Embarcation Confusion by JoelS5

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Zaandam / Destination: U.S. - Pacific, Northwest

No complaints about the ship although the oceanview rooms seemed small. Cuisine good and staff friendly. However, HAL had difficulty locating our names upon arrival despite assurances from Alaska boarding documents would be at the pier. After finally getting on board, we were told whenever we tried to charge something "you aren't in the computer." Despite having filled out a credit card application upon boarding, the front desk call twice the morning of disembarcation (first call 7:00 AM) advising they didn't have the credit card authorization and to report to front desk to fill out another one. So ship good, administration terrible.

Short and Sweet by ItaVero

Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: U.S. - Pacific, Northwest

Coastal cruises of just a day or so were the dairy queen curl for Pacific NW cruisers. This was our first short trip - but we've just booked a slew of others. Almost like day trips. Our first and last trip on the Radiance. Not because there was anything wrong with it - we just moved on.
