Lowered expectations by dandarancs323

I will not be traveling with Carnival again. Food was awful, wait staff was rude (housekeeping staff was great) and ship was outdated. I've never gotten seasick before, but this trip I was close. The check in process was extremely unorganized, but disembarking was handled well.

The live shows were the best part!

Wont do another cruise because there are cheaper vacations you can go on that are more fun!

Wouldnt recomend to anyone! Pick another cruise line maybe.

Never Again by ambertownsell81

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Imagination / Destination: Mexico

It wasn't my cup of tea. The food was nasty and as a result you seen lots of plates laying around with lots of wasted food. The carpet in the room was old and needed deep cleaning. The best part was good was the staff. They were all very nice and pleasant. I wouldn't cruise with carnival anymore. Cheesy shows as well seemed like a knock off vegas experience.

We were booked in one room instead of in two separate rooms. by shellback

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Imagination / Destination: Mexico

The booking agent assigned us all (4 passengers, both married couples) in a single room with a queen and two separate bunk beds. Our booking agent did not made clear that she changed from 2 separate rooms to a single room.

We were all unhappy the whole time. We were actually expecting 2 separate rooms as was supposed to be booked in. Booking agent was not very transparent in processing our room of choice.

It is not a very encouraging first time experience that might not be repeated again for a long time.Sad

First Cruise by betty65134951

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Inspiration / Destination: Mexico

I took this cruise with my mom (she is 87) and it is was the first cruise for both of us. What stuck out most to both of us is how nice EVERYONE was. Two names that come to the top of the list are MonaLisa in housekeeping and Mini in food/beverage.

The need for improvement would be in the public area restrooms.

The other thing I would mention is that on the first evening of the cruise and the drill is being held, to mention to folks to take their jackets with them for the drill. I stood on the Lido Deck with my 87 year old mother for almost an hour and she was very cold.

Otherwise a great experience.

Very Good by Cruiser90633588

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Inspiration / Destination: Mexico

The food in the dinning room could have been better. The food bars were better to eat at. We liked the deli and omelet bar the best. The staff and service was beyond fantastic. I wish I could have understood them better when they spoke. The staff kept the rooms and ship clean and orderly all the time.

MEXICO CRUISE 2017 by kenw513

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Jewel / Destination: Mexico

OVERALL, IT WAS A GREAT VACATION!.

CHECK-IN AT SAN PEDRO WAS A DISASTER.  LOT OF CONFUSION AND LACK OF DIRECTIONS FROM NCL STAFF.  PROPERLY DISPLAYED SIGNS SHOWING WHERE TO GO WOULD HAVE BEEN A GREAT HELP.  STAFF PROVIDED LITTLE DIRECTION AND IN FACT SEEMED TO BE UNTRAINED.

MEALS WERE GREAT!  SERVICE AT CAGNEY'S WAS BAD ONE NIGHT OUT OF THREE.  TOOK OVER AN HOUR TO GET OUR ORDER, ON THE FIRST NIGHT.  STAFF WAS FRIENDLY BUT NOT OVERLY EFFICIENT.

ALL PERSONNEL APPEARED FRIENDLY AND VERY POLITE.

RECOMMEND THIS CRUISE.

Not what I expected by iventkat232

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Jewel / Destination: Mexico

I loved the activities on board but I wish there are more. Getting on board the lines are very long even though we are pre registered and Latitude members, I was getting hypoglycemic and when we got on board by the time we are getting some food the Garden café was closed and we are rushed for the mandatory drill. Next day morning I went to get some Cappaccino and was shocked to see that it is not complimentary, I have cruised about 12-13 times I have never paid for this before. Our room was quite spacious and comfortable - we got a junior suite. The vegetarian options for dining are very limited, even though they have Indian vegetarian in Garden Café the roti is hard and so is the poori. In Azura they had vegetarian Lasagna and they made Penne with Arbiata sauce which was tasty and spicy. Apart from that there are not many choices and to eat the same every other day is boring especially on a cruise. The daily trivia run by Shirley, Romerico and Beatrice is enjoyable. We enjoyed the game shows and the nightly shows were fantastic.

I had the time of my life on and offshore. The best excursions also, you have to check out parasailing in Catalina island. The food was awesome and loved the new mexican food and Guys burger.

Great Cruise - Great Ship! by billvfitz

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Jewel / Destination: Mexico

This was our second cruise on the NCL Jewel and we chose this cruise mainly because we could be on the Jewel again. Overall, the cruise was wonderful - we enjoyed good weather, the balcony cabin was roomy and was kept in top shape by our steward Dinkie.

We enjoyed the food with the exception of very slow service in the Brazilian and Asian restaurants. Our meal at Cagney's steak house was top-notch. Many of our meals were at the Garden Cafe which provided a great assortment of well-prepared and tasty meals in a buffet setting.

The ship's crew and staff were uniformly pleasant and always greeted us with a smile. They appeared to be genuinely happy with their jobs.

The ports were OK - we enjoyed Mazatlan more than the others because of it's history and generally more appealing appearance. We also had a great tour of the petroglyphs (booked through Delta - not offered on the ship).

The entertainment was top notch, especially the "show band" that provided live music in the main theater and other venues on the ship. There was a good mix of entertainment, games, demonstrations and shows.

All in all, this was a great cruise!

A Lovely Shipboard Experience..... by loritroullier

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Miracle / Destination: Mexico

Although the cruise seemed like a value experience, the ships dining room and bars met a higher expectation. They should review their embarkation drill, and lesson the loud intermittent screaming whistle blows, with the almost unending wait for instructions. I picked my first aft balcony, which provided a gorgeous wake view. Unfortunately the calcium stained glass walls and the withered splintered banister and grungy balcony furntiure precluded us from sitting outside. The stateroom was not remodeled and seemed rather worn and unappealing. Other than those basic problems, the service was excellent and I enjoyed getting out on the sea!

Wonderful 7 Days! by Jcscoper

We went to relax - and we did.  We loved Nick and Nora's steakhouse and went 3 times!  We had some nice dining in the main dining room the other nights also.  The service across the board was excellent.

Relaxing Birthday Cruise by smcarson71

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Ruby Princess / Destination: Mexico

We booked this cruise to celebrate my birthday and it did not disappoint.  Even though we had been to all the ports previously, we took a couple of enjoyable shore excursions and just had a great time.   The Ruby Princess is a nice ship with a friendly, accommodating crew.   We hope to sail on her again.

Sub standard cruise by fredmart55

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Inspiration / Destination: Mexico

with all the additional costs that get added on, this inexpensive cruise ends up far to expensive for such a short cruise. Most of the crew were great, there were a few exceptions . The room was nothing special, as expected for an interior cabin. The comedy show was my favorite entertainment, other shows were also good. Food was the worse I have experienced on a cruise. Very small selection in the buffet. We had all our dinners in the dining room, group of 5 couples, did not get seated together as requested. That did get corrected the second night. Food was really bad. Beef tenderloin that was so tough I couldn't eat it. portions so small it looked like a joke. The one stand out good thing was the melting chocolate cake. One night I was going to pay the extra $20. for lobster tail but when I asked the waiter what size tails they are, I just got a confused look and "regular size". Most days I don't eat breakfast but the one time I wanted to, in the dining room, it was completely inedible. The muster drill/process is crazy. Go down 2 decks to meet at a muster station in the ships interior before going up 2 decks to the life boats. Your FUC--N CRAZY. No one will do that in an emergency .  Every other cruise ship I have been on, Your muster station is where you board your life boat. That's just common sense .

Good time aboard by crazieebabiee

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Inspiration / Destination: Mexico

We had a great time. We only had 1 incident the whole time..

The people on board that sell you your pictures they try to haggle you and they lie to you about the prices. We had a big problem with the man telling us one price and then charging us another price. When discussed with him that he told us 2 different prices he got angry and defensive and rude. Other than that the trip was amazing.

Needs more Latin cultural activites by jkgreen232

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Imagination / Destination: Mexico

The staff is great. Food was good and plentiful. Because it was a cruise to Mexico, I was expecting more zumba classes (by the pool would've been great), and more Latin dance classes (ANY would've been nice).

Sucks! by rmantz72

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Grand Princess / Destination: Mexico

Before even leaving for my cruise gave away my reserved (paid in full) balcony stateroom to another customer!  This makes me furious since I booked my cruise more than 6 months in advance!   and Princess played the blame game when I questioned it, absolutely no compensation was made by either party! Needless to say I will never use or Princess again!  They claim to have sent me an email but who cares! There is absolutely no excuse for this, and I feel I should have received a phone call for such an issue!  The cruise itself was nice, but Sucks!

Relaxing and pleasant vacation by JQL

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grand Princess / Destination: Mexico

The 1-night Mexican Riviera cruise on Grand Princess was an enjoyable experience. My husband and I had a cabin with a balcony. During the days the ship was cruising in the sea sitting on the balcony and reading with gentle ocean breeze was beneficial for the body and soul. The evening entertainment was high quality, especially the singers and dancers, as well as the magician and comedian. The last night's "Voice of the Ocean" was a hit too.

The stops in four beach towns in Mexico were provided a glimpse to the local beauty and culture.

The service was very good on the ship. From cabin steward to dining room waiters, and pretty much everyone in the service team greeted you with smile, and eager to help you with anything you might be in need.

The regular dining room dinner was decent. The menu changed every evening. The buffet was plentiful in verity.

Very nice cruise by bdavis1236

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Inspiration / Destination: Mexico

Very nice cruise...Dee, Cruise Director, is a ball of energy...the food is great. Nothing really spectacular about the itinerary, but the time on board is very nice. A quibble I always have with Carnival...savory food is always really good, but desserts are mediocre at best. Sure, the soft serve ice cream machine..awesome, but desserts alwats disappointing. Other than that, the shows are awesome, the entertainment is great, and the staff super friendly.

Do Faster to the Fun...the benefits were great the entire trip.

Carnival Cruise Feb 27 - Mar 03 by muzickcom

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Inspiration / Destination: Mexico

Just enjoying my son and our fabulous room stuart Holic.

I was very disappointed this voyage in part by what follows:

At the time of my visit the steam was not working. Buffet dinner the beef and wine was very tuff and cold, The lack of flavored teas was quite disappointing as well. Common pool area music was absolutely awful the entire cruise. The programing was a loop. out of sync with no theme.  All clubs were too hip-hop, auto tunes, house music oriented. Nothing for mature individuals or couples SAD with all of the onboard venues ONE venue should host MUSIC FLASHBACKS for adults. I AM A PROFESSIONAL MUSIC PROGRAMMER WITH SPECIAL FOCUS ON MATURE ADULT MUSIC PROGRAMMING. Many areas of the ship had dishes and or food left and not bused by staff for long periods of time.
