New Memories with my grandson. by MariaSValdez

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Splendor / Destination: Mexico

We took this cruise for 2 reasons. My birthday, and his 8th grade graduation. There were to be 3 of us but my son died in January so it was only 2. We needed the time to heal, and bond.. We will do another cruise and probably with Carnivale but a different destination. We had a good time on board but I can honestly say, traveling with a child and not an adult you get a totality different perspestive on cruising.

It was OK. Not great, not horrible. The activities could be better announced rather than relying on the app.

Outstanding Service! by jlangejans

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Imagination / Destination: Mexico

Our family dynamics have changed as one of our kids is now out in the working world and was unable to go on our annual summer vacation. So my wife, 16 year old daughter and I just got back from the Baja Cruise and it was fantastic. We created memories that will last a lifetime. Mr, Smith assisted us with making our reservation and set us up in a great location on the ship. He also suggested we use the "Your Time Dining" schedule so that we could eat at anytime we wanted rather that be on an early or late schedule. These were decisions we really did not know anything thing about. Kudos to him as these were choices that affected our entire cruise for the better. The Epic Rock show was Las Vegas caliber and the service we received from the Pride dining facility (sit down dining) was incredible. I would gladly take this cruise again.

First Cruise by munsingerfam

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Imagination / Destination: Mexico

I would like to go on another cruise now that I know what to expect. I was less than impressed with the lido deck buffet, but the dining room made up for that. I’m a bit of a germ freak and usually have a hard time sleeping away from home in “strange beds,” but I slept so well on this cruise! I wish the rooms were DEEP cleaned a little better in between trips...(toilet - YUCK)...but our steward (Mark) was so friendly and willing to help. As for the cruise...anyone “bored” on a cruise is a weirdo because there is ALWAYS something going on. Our 13 year old twins loved the game show, Trivial Pursuit, the water slides, etc. I had never been to Catalina and I’m okay if I never go again. I don’t understand the hype. All four of our sons loved Ensenada - we went to the blowhole (La Bufadora) and the open air markets. On sea day, we relaxed by the water park and we were fortunate enough to see two whales and a HUGE group of dolphins that played near the ship for forever! Our Captain parked the ship near Catalina on our way back to Long Beach so that we could watch 4th of July fireworks over the ocean. I think we will try another cruise...but on a bigger, newer ship.

Great cruise, but bad shore excusion by honmann

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Splendor / Destination: Mexico

We went on a United Airlines endorsed shore excursion to the Riu Palace for the day. We got held up at the front desk because we didn't have a receipt that wasn't mailed to us. I did have a receipt for a deposit I made. They weren't going to let us in until I made a stink about it. At one of their restaurants, a certain dish was out and asked worker if they would be making more. A got a quick NO! It was an all day buffet and they weren't going to put out more food. Upon leaving we accidently left our IDs at the front desk. It was taken us more than 10 days to get an answer from the resort about sending the ID back, of which we provided a FEDEX number to mail. As of this writing, we still don't have our IDs. We paid $100+ each for this excursion plus transportation to get there (40 min drive), and in my opinion it was a waste. United Airlines should seriously look into this place before it continues to endorse. Also after I booked cruise, called United about suite upgrade offer.....they had no offer and was told to read fine print. While I enjoyed the Carnival cruise, I'll be hesitant to sign up thru United, which is my carrier of choice. But I guess I'll be contemplating that as well.

Our first cruise with our Grand Sons .. they had a BLAST !!!! by sammyvelvet

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Splendor / Destination: Mexico

Carnival is a great cruise line if you are traveling with children. They have tons of stuff for all age groups of children and teens. We have done many cruises with all adults and this was our first with our Grand Sons. It was a different experience for us as we did this cruise around them. It was so much fun sharing the excitement with them. The highlights for them were the Dr. Seuss Green Eggs and Ham breakfast, The Dr Seuss Parade and show ... We have used many cruise lines and always seem to find the best value and most FUN on Carnival .

Short and Sweet Ensada Cruise! by htam2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Imagination / Destination: Mexico

It was a last-minute planned first-time cruise. We had a blast! Especially for my son, who was able to alternate hanging out with me and go to Club O2 where he made a few friends. The live music on jour deck and the 10th deck (lido), dance club, but especially the Comedy Club was great for us. The food whether it was the buffet or main hall dining had a nice variety and the service was awesome. I really have no complaints but I just wish the hot tubs weren't always full and this I'm sure is not exclusive to this ship. It's probably true of every ship.

Awesome by hottest1213

Awesome experience. Cabin steward knew us by first name. Food and service was excellent. Comedy show was hilarious. Casino waiters knew us by first name. Rented a golf cart on Catalina island. Took a tour to the blow hole and ate the best clams and ceviche ever! Definitely not the last cruise for us.
