Our Hawaii Adventure by NancyS27

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Pride of Hawaii / Destination: Hawaii

We were impressed with the ship and our stateroom was very nice. The embarking process was fast and efficient. We enjoyed the entertainment very much. The food was good, but the service in the main dining room could be better. The ship's air conditioning was on too high and many of us had to wear coats or sweaters inside the ship. Overall we had a fun cruise. I would recommend it to my friends.

My anniversary/birthday extravaganza by JanetB8

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Sun / Destination: Hawaii

This was a wonderful cruising experience. My husband and I were very impressed by the friendliness and kindness of the staff. My husband was completely amazed at the performances of the Jean Ann Ryan dancers and the extravagances that were put on. The other entertainers were very good, too. The food in the Garden room was wonderful; however, we were disappointed in the East Meets West specialty restaurant. My steak wasn't that good--in fact, I had a better steak in the Four Seasons Restaurant. We were impressed by the gym and aerobics rooms. The aerobics instructor, Teodora, was so knowledgeable and friendly. We were so impressed by the condition of the ship--it was immaculate.

Poor and uninspiring by JohnA36

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Pride of America / Destination: Hawaii

Had to find my own luggage due to lazy staff at 12:00 am in the morning. Room smelled of smoke so bad they had to move us after 2 days, night entertainment like a bad dream of lounge lizards, the food was good.

A fabulous 10 days! by Cathy2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Sun / Destination: Hawaii

This was a great cruise, our rooms were mini-suites right off the pool and they were wonderful!! The exercise room was the best I have seen on a cruise, large and new equipment with tv's on them!! Loved the varieities of food choices available throughout the ship. Great comedians!! Longest cruise we have ever been on, but went by rapidly.

Mediocre at best by PeterS7

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Pride of Hawaii / Destination: Hawaii

Wait staff was inattentive and non-existent at ALL restaurants. Food was served cold on several occasions. Reservations were needed at ALL restaurants for dinner service except buffet. There were hidden charges at all specialty restaurants. One meal for two cost us $75.00, which included 2 drinks. Soda cards cost $60.00 PP plus tax for a week of all you can drink soda. The food was OK, but portions were small. Expect to order double meals if you want to leave feeling full. Ship was nice, but gaudy. Balcony room was very small compared with other cruise lines. Forget 2 adults and 2 children in a balcony room, you will go nutz. In your cabin, if youre over 6 feet tall you will need to exit the toilet stall to put your pants up or down. Shower stall was roomy compared to other cruise lines. Bed was comfy. Entertainment was mediocre at best and not much to do at night. $10.00 per day PP was charged automatically to your on board credit card. This covered ALL tipping requirements, except bar tipping. Lots of corrections were made to on board credit bill, which made tracking charges difficult. NCL CANNOT move large groups of people very well. Tendering services to and from land took a minimum of 2 hours each way. The first day getting onboard took 2.5 hours and getting off at end of cruise took over an hour, so much for earlier registration and paperwork. We have cruised over 12 times and this ship awful, but Hawaii was absolutely wonderful! Save your money at each port of call by bringing a GPS and renting a car. Average rental cost per day was around $40 for a compact. Just about all places to excursion to are free from entry fees. The cheapest excursion fee for two people was $75.00.

I expected Better by HectorM1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Pride of Hawaii / Destination: Hawaii

I went in the low season and still took too long to order and get seated at restaurants. Some of the food was bad or would not correspond to full menu description. I was served food not completely cooked. Alcohol beverages are way more expensive than on any other ship. I was coming back to the ship with a couple of local hawaiian beers and they confiscated them. Wanted me to pay $15.00 per beer for uncork charge. Servers do not care anymore, except for the few filipinos on board. Little entertainment after 10 PM, it looks like a funeral parlor atmosphere. You have to pay to use services free on every other ship.

Just an OK Cruise by MaryA

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Pride of America / Destination: Hawaii

I have written to Norweign Cruise line concerning this cruise! Overall, the trip was just ok, food was just ok, the ship was beautiful however and the staff was also GREAT but the overall expeience for our 25th Anniversary Cruise was not a good one. I feel Norweign should give us some sort of compensation for all the disappointment we experienced! I will not go on about the letter that I sent them but we will not be doing another NCL Cruise! The ship is beautiful, tastefully decorated and well maintained. Staterooms tend to be a bit small, but manageable.

The ship was clean and quiet. Our room was excellent and cleaned at least twice a day. The daily itenerary and entertainment of the ship was explained very well. The crew was some of the most friendly and helpful I ever encountered.

Not Great, Just OK by JohnK16

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Pride of Hawaii / Destination: Hawaii

The ship was not layed out well, it only had 3 elevator banks and was very hard to get around. The decor could have been much better. Freestyle dinning was a joke. You had to pay for reservations at some dinning establishments and then the food wasn't worth the price of the reservation. The main dinning room food wasn't good either. The Blue Lagoon had to the only decent food on the ship. They closed the ice cream and drink machines every night by 10:00 pm. The varitey on the breakfast buffet was great but the food wasn't great. They ran out of cream, chocolate milk, and Vitamin D milk on the next to the last day. The crew was very friendly for the most part. There were a couple of snotty servers but only a couple. Our cabin was always clean and most of the servers and bus people were very friendly and helpful. The shows were good. All the activities were planned for when most people were ashore. The pool slide was open on about 2 hours at a time and it closed for the night at 5pm. There were only a couple of pool activities and after 5pm the pool area was dead. The pools were not heated and the water was very cold. The management policy with respect to individual customer service is horrible. We had to help an elderly couple bring their luggage aboard because the staff was all performing a drill and there were no porters available to help them.

A nice cruise. by At11

We like the 10 day cruise which included all the different Islands. Staff was nice. Ship was decorated nicely. Checking in on the ship went smooth. I felt we had a chance to see quite a bit on this 10 day excursion. Nice trip. We would like to go back to Maui and stay there a week in the future.

One of our least favorite cruises by LynneS1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group

Most of the ship was beautiful. Prices on the port side of the ship should reflect the fact that most of the time was spent looking at rusty buildings or heavy equipment.

Great cruise by KatharineC

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Pride of Hawaii / Destination: Hawaii

We just returned from cruising the Hawaiian islands on the NCL Pride of Hawaii. The cruise and destinations were great and we enjoyed the "free style" dining which allowed us a choice of time to dine and several different restaurants and dining rooms. Service in the dining room was slow for breakfast sometimes. The NCL shore excursions were over priced. Roberts, another tour company offered the same excursions for 1/2 to 1/3 the price for the very same trips. I will recommend this cruise to friends.

Fantastic sights by EllieF1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Pride of Hawaii / Destination: Hawaii

We thouroghly enjoyed everything about the cruise. With the exception of the food in one of the restuarants, all of our dining experiences were great. We booked a couple of the shore excursions, we really enjoyed the "Glass Bottom Boat", and watching the Dolphins jump and play along side the boat. At all the Island, we rented cars, so we were free to explore. I enjoyed having the two full days on Maui, and the extra time on Kauai, which was my favorite of all the Islands. The only disappointment was not being able to us "Easy Fly", even though the Cruise Director keep saying Northwest Airlines was part of the program.
