Hawaii Cruise Reviews

I wanted to see Hawaii and I did. The ship was rockier than any cruise I have ever been on, infact several people got sick durining dinner. I am glad I was not there.

We knew that this ship was not one of the larger vessels. However, we had 7-1/2' to 14' swells and this ship lacked the stability for a comfortable ride. Possibly in better weather it would have been fine.

The Golden Princess is showing her age and is ready for her scheduled refurbishment. In spite of this, all public areas were neat and clean. The staff was very friendly and efficient and took excellent care of us. Our steward went out of his way to ensure that we had everything we wanted when we wanted it. Every time we left our cabin it was made up and refreshed. We chose 'Anytime Dining' but ended up eating at the same time and table every evening. Our wait staff was quick, professional and friendly.

We found the Golden Princess to be poorly designed, overall. Public rooms look tired, ready for remodeling and updating. Our suite was far less than we expected. Poor lighting, no bathroom storage and awkward door placement. Most disappointing was the small verandah space and OBSTRUCTED VIEW, which we did not know about and would not have booked. Whose idea was it to place the live entertainment (loud!) right next to the library and Internet Cafe?

The "Queen Victoria" did not have an "enclosed" swimming pool. In a nutshell, if the weather was inclement -- and there were several rainy days -- you could not use the pool. The Card Room was reserved for Bridge players only in the morning and afternoons. Since the ship did not have facilities for those who may wish to play another card game, we needed to play in the lounges.

Everyone was extremely polite, but at times it felt a little forced. The cruise was very nice but there was way too much attention on pushing alcohol even to the neglect of other passengers. They ship was beautiful and the room steward was excellent.

We sailed on the Pride of America with Norwegian. We had a wonderful time and the ship was very clean and appeared well-maintained. For the most part the crew was very friendly.

My luggage was lost yet it was the only piece of luggage at the front desk WITH my printed NAME tag YOUR company had me print online. It took me 6 hours to find this out. Live entertainment was poorly timed for both the 6 & 8 pm dinning guest. Activities during inclement weather were either non-existent or poorly planned. Lower prices on Spa services would attract more clients, extra tips for employees and competition for other cruise lines. Discount incentives should be offered for each added tour. Several orientations should be planned at the beginning of the voyage with a drawing for a free future trip for those who attend. The orientations could be used to better explain the trip options, spa specials, planned events and other activities available with the Captain or high-ranking officer available for a Q&A. This is our 5th voyage and our worst. Our previous voyages were with the Royal Caribbean (3) and Carnival (1). Thank you Michael Thomas

the ship was beautiful

The Spirit is a wonderful ship. It had just come out of re-ferbishing and was very clean. The crew was exceptional especially the dining room staff. We were dissapointed with our stateroom staff. Gerald was very good for the first coupple of days and then got lazy and did not do simple task that are common for a stateroom attendant to perform.

The ship had just come out of drydock so our trip got off to a somewhat disjointed start until the new crew became more adjusted to their ship. We were late leaving San Diego as a result. There were more than enough activities available for anyone should they want to be active aboard, or plenty of time to kick back and veg, which is why we picked this particular cruise. The staff were freindly and helpful and all in all it was a pleasant experience. At times the food did not seem as great as it used to be "in the old days" but there was more than enough of it, and a good selection most times. Although this was a larger ship than we usually like, we did not feel we were part of a mob. The Serenity area was great. Don't forget the spa and the gym if you want to be active.

The boarding process at San Diego was horrible at best. My tv got fixed on the last day. If you did not book a shore excursion with the ship you get no help from the crew and are not let off the ship until all passengers who booked are off. This causes delays and time for non booked excursions. Debarking was also a mess. Took this ship to Alaska 2 years ago and it was very good trip.

Had a great time. Carnival needs to do a better job of organizing the activities. Amenities and service not as good as it was ten or fifteen years ago.

The ship, while smaller for this day and time, was absolutely beautifully decorated in the public areas. Would love to cruise the Spirit again. . . so maybe I'll have to go to Australia!!

This was our second cruise on a Carnival ship with the first being on the Fantasy. Overall the Fantasy cruise was more pleasureable: more fun acitivites, better dining room service.

Ship was clean and well maintained. Crew was friendly.

Enjoyed our trip. Eric the head of Recreation and the Captain were very personable. The food was great. The room we were in needed refurbishing. The carpet needed to be replaced. The excursions were good. I would definitely recommend this cruise.
