Review summary

The Golden Princess is showing her age and is ready for her scheduled refurbishment. In spite of this, all public areas were neat and clean. The staff was very friendly and efficient and took excellent care of us. Our steward went out of his way to ensure that we had everything we wanted when we wanted it. Every time we left our cabin it was made up and refreshed. We chose 'Anytime Dining' but ended up eating at the same time and table every evening. Our wait staff was quick, professional and friendly.

Food and Dining

One of our favorite parts of cruising is the fine dining. We ate on the Horizon Court daily, finding the food fresh, plentiful and well prepared. We ate in a dining room each night and found that the menu was diverse and excellently prepared.

Entertainment

There was excellent variety and the overall quality of the entertainment was great. I wish the shows were repeated more and that the big shows were changed more than every 18 months.

Service and Staff

The staff on Princess is always pleasant and efficient. The staff on the Golden Princess was delightful. Everyone was friendly and open and our room steward went out of his way to ensure that we were comfortable and had everything we wanted before we wanted it.

Ship Quality

The Golden has the same layout as her sister ship the Grand, on whom we had sailed before. This made finding our way around easier and lent a sense of comfort, like visiting the home of an old friend. All public areas were neat and clean.

Cabin / Stateroom

We choose a mini-suite for the tub shower instead of the shower stall. I love the sea and find the balcony one of the most comfortable places on the ship. The mattress in our cabin was very soft and provided no support.

Pros: Hawaii was beautiful, our excursions were wonderful. The food onboard was excellent. The staff were warm, friendly and very efficient.

Cons: Our mattress was very soft and lacked any support. Our suite was near the stern and rolled alot in the rought seas.

Recommends Golden Princess? Yes!
