Westerdam Cruise Feb 14-18 night by edabich

Ship: Westerdam / Destination: Hawaii

The cruise was outstanding! Great crew and plenty of time in ports to see the sights. The food was good with plenty of choices to eat healthy. Our at sea lectures with Greg Redfern were outstanding. Ship needs some chipping and painting.

Pride of America by Grandpa007

Ship: Pride of America / Destination: Hawaii

I was very disappointed with many things on this cruise, first time I had to pay for Lobster and steak! Prices for shore excursions were very high. Couldn't get into a port that had to be tendered and no compensation for that. Food in the dinning rooms were short on meat and long on pasta or rice. Bartenders didn't know how to mix drinks.

Some Good, Some bad by CruiserfromIL

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Pride of America / Destination: Hawaii

The favorite part of the cruise was to be able to see several islands without having to fly to each one separately.  We did not get to Kona as it is necessary to tender in and the ship docks far from shore and the tenders are small and could not handle the choppy water.  However, better safe than sorry.  Norwegian needs to learn to be much more customer friendly. We missed our connection in LAX, therefore not able to use the hotel in Honolulu the first night which was part of the promotion on our package.  I spoke to Guest Relations on the ship regarding not being able to use the hotel since that was one of the promotional options and requested to us the gratuities as the promotion since that was one of the options when booking out trip.  After several days of waiting for a response from Corporate we were advised that gratuities would not be honored in place of the lost hotel night.  I do not understand the difference between the hotel and gratuities since both had been offered as promotions as part of our cruise package.  Instead they gave us a dinner in one of the specialty restaurants.  No comparison from a cost perspective. .  .

Our first cruise on a large ship by Cruiser80203488

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Westerdam / Destination: Hawaii

The food and the evening entertainment were great.

The staff were incredible.

Would have liked a second day in Puerto Vallerto.

The bridge room was very small - only 4 tables.  Many people came to play and had to leave because

the tables were full.

Hawaii Cruise Great! by Texassenior

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Star Princess / Destination: Hawaii

All of the Islands were different, but wonderful. Much to see and a return trip would be fun. 15 days at sea was a little much for me since I get a little seasick, but still better than flying if you have the time. The ship had lots of activities and food and the staff were very helpful and always friendly.

Food and Entertainment (was really Bad) plus most of the time everyone was trying to find out what was going on. Not organized. Loved the little girl from Germany she was a huge help when we went down to the main lobby.

we left the ship when we arrived in Maui, sick 3 days from food I had ate.

Hawaiian Cruise by mayorang

We had a great time. The cruise was terrific it was amazing how a cruise line can keep 2500 passengers occupied and entertained for nine sea days. The Cruise Director and his staff did a great job in keeping us entertained for that period of time. The Princess production performers were sensational for the shows they were scheduled to perform. We have been cruising for almost twenty years and by far this was the best Captain we had encountered. He was informative, friendly and always present. You never knew when you would run into him just walking the deck or in one of the events. The only recommendation I would make to Princess is to schedule more time on the islands. I would like Princess to consider staying overnight in Honolulu so you can take in all the sights on that stop, I would also extend the stay on the other islands a couple of hours. Maybe eliminate Ensenada to extend the Hawaiian part of the cruise. The food was good, the entertainment was great and the service on the ship was exceptional.

Hawaii Cruise by mabel9252

This was a new experience in cruising for me.  I had done 15 cruises thus far and found this ones captain a delight.  Where on other cruises we rarely ever saw the captain, this one was always present and a delight to get to know.  He cared for his people and those of us onboard.  All of the staff from the desk down were friendly and very helpful.  Trying to outguess the weather was impossible but everyone's comfort and safety were prime for all staff onboard.  The food was delicious and well prepared.  Most seniors enjoy quiet and there was always someplace quiet to be.  The entertainment was great.  All said and done , it was a great cruise.

Mexico Riviera Cruise by JNJCruisers

Ship: Westerdam / Destination: Hawaii

Great cruise, the whale watching excursion at Cabo San Lucas was the best we've ever had; actually saw whales breaching and doing peduncle slaps, it was amazing.  The tours of the cities of Mazatlán and Puerto Vallarta were very good; we had never been to these cities before, so the city tours worked out perfect.

One cruise won't do on the westerdam by KellyLeftwich

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Westerdam / Destination: Hawaii

The service was exceptional, From dining to cabin state room, everything was at your fingertips, We loved the entertainment, the kind and politeness of crew and staff. The crew of Westerdam really wanted you to have the time of your lives, and we did. We left the ship feeling like it was a home away from home, and we cant wait to return for a future cruise...

Trip was mostly enjoyable, only real issue was dining. Dining room was good service, food was adequate - but not 5 star. Lido deck was very slow and not the greatest. Seems like the hours didn't match our schedule.

Boat atmosphere was great, I'd say its due for some upgrades in floor covering.

Bars were slow and inconsistent quality on drinks.

Entertainment was OK, but we like comedians and you only had one night.

Pampered all the wah by Russellho

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grand Princess / Destination: Hawaii

The service over the 14 day sailing was impeccable. Every dining experience was memorable. The anytime dining was the best. Each of the restraints accepted reservations and we were escorted in with flair when we learned that it was better than showing up and waiting for a table.

The wait service was exceptional. The detail and service was that of the finest dining service.

The food in all of the various eateries was outstanding, well prepared and delicious.

The entertainment was more than you can see in two weeks.

Did I say if you can do it.

 Big Smile

Wonderful, but a couple of suggestions..... by HawaiiiCruiser

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grand Princess / Destination: Hawaii

The service was fantastic on this cruise and the food was consistently good. The issues that need work are the entertainment times in the Princess Theater and handicap seating sections in the dining rooms. A number if us on the cruise discussed a need for an afternoon matinee instead of a late night show. Many or most of the guests were in their 70s and 80s. These folks packed the 8:00 shows and many people could not get in to see the performances. We actually thought ourselves lucky to get seats by arriving at 30 minutes before the performance. A 4:00 matinee would help alleviate this crowding problem. If you take this trip and want to see a live show in the Princess Theater , you will have to get your seat early The next issue is the access for people with disabilities or mobility problems. There were hundreds of these folks; some with scooters, wheelchairs, and rolling walkers. These apparatuses were causes problems in the dining rooms because they were hazards that dining guests and wait staff were tripping over. Not sure how this can be fixed, but future guests need to keep an eye out for these when walking through the dining rooms. These are just tips; all in all a fabulous cruise. We would go again.

Hawaii Cruise from San Francisco by Beats

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grand Princess / Destination: Hawaii

The cruise was uneventful, but relaxxing .  The Grand Princess is 20 years old and lacks some of the amenities of newer ship.  Cabins are on the smaller side with the bathrooms being cramped.

We've been on many Princess cruises and the food on this ship was particularly good with excellent fish preparation.

There were two lecturers on board.  The gentleman who organized film clips into various categories was excellent.  The other lecturer/naturalist was somewhat obtuse at times.  The other presentations were all sales pitches for art, the spa and jewelry.  We didn't go to any of these presentations as they are usually extremely boring after having been on 15 cruises with Princess.

Beautiful Week aboard Pride of America! by kimgolf3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Pride of America / Destination: Hawaii

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed this week in Hawaii!  Getting on board Sat. was very easy and we were in our room within and hour of boarding.  The room with a king size bed and balcony was very clean and had lots of storage and closet room.  We loved the freestyle dining and found the service and food to be excellent.  The entertaiment was so good and we thought the shows were just the right length to be fun and uplifting. Loved have music on the pool deck, the musicians were great, some of the singers need a little practice but still fun. Overall I would feel great recommending family and friends to take this cruise.

Inside Room - Saved Some Money by jrs00pm

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Star Princess / Destination: Hawaii

We like the whole cruise thing, sea days, ports and the people on the ship.  The problem with the Star Princes is the Princes Theater is poorly managed.  We stopped waiting 45 minutes which was required to get a seat for a 30 minute show. Some cruise lines take reservation so you know you will get in, even tho you may not know where you will sit.  Lucky the tro in the atrium were very GOOD.  Could not enjoy the Vista longue as there was always a movie or hula something going on.  Yes we were going to Hawaii,, but 15 days of Hawan's music ,,,duh,

Fun cruise to awaii by MasterGardener

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Star Princess / Destination: Hawaii

Loved the time to relax before and after being in Hawaii.  The trips to the four main islands gave us a chance to see much of the local areas.  We would recommend this trip to others.  Only complaint was the excess cost of the Princess shore excursions.  We did better before when our travel agent helped us with some local excursions which had fewer people and we could see more.

Cruise NCL Hawaii by damjishah

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Pride of America / Destination: Hawaii

Hawaii is great for escaping the cold Chicago winter blues. NCL provides the most efficient way to spend time on islands instead of many sea days. Spending overnight in Maui and Kauai gives time to explore islands and partake in evening and late night activities.

Major improvement is needed in the restaurants service area. The staff seems uncoordinated. Training program or upper management shake-up is needed before things become serious and problematic. Other cruise lines, especially Celebrity excels in restaurant service.

Entertainment was acceptable to excellent; especially comedians with non-offensive and relatable humor.
