The room was satisfactory with the staff, but the restaurant was not good. The interval of a table and the table was small and was uncomfortable.

Bad experience by Aaaaaaaaa

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Costa Mediterranea / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

1. Food was bad 2. Spa was bad 3. The dates were bad, 2 of 4 stops had all stores closed because of Easter holiday. 4. No one could tell how to connect to the airport till we got off the ship. Not take this cruise again and won't recommend to anyone

Italian Cruise by Sherylraj

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Costa Pacifica / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

I thought the cruise was wonderful. The stops were interesting and had plenty to do. The food and service was good. It wasn't over the top as I have heard other cruise lines are, but for the money I felt it was acceptable. The only negative was that communication was a huge issue. I spent about 6 hours in line with customer service to try to understand some of the excursion info and details related to the all inclusive drink package.

Were we on the same cruise? by Dougfromnewport

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Splendida / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

We were on the Splendida - I think at the same time as another reviewer - but had a very difficult time. There was a notable lack of expected ammenities and the Yacht Club concierge was not "witchy" she was actively hostile and actually cruel. Her coworkers & subordinates were clearly embarassed by her behavior but unable or unwilling to address it.

Cruising Like a Rock Star on the Mediterranian by LeslieJane

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Splendida / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

If you are looking for a fabulous vacation traveling in splendor with every amenity - for a steal- try MSC and book through Cheap Cruises. My husband & I are boaters, but living in New England, like to take a winter cruise and usually go on Cunard Lines, although we have also traveled on Princess and others. This year, on the recommendation of a friend, we booked MSC Splendida for the Western Med. Being a bargain-hunter (aren't we all?) I went to Cheap Cruises. Now, you know cruising is great but MSC? OMG! The ship is beyond immaculate, has an incredibly beautiful decor (i.e. Swarovsky crystal stairs) (!), delicious food (i.e 7-course dinners with lobster and filet mignon), and amazing staff. Our "mini-suite" and balcony (from which we enjoyed sun, stars, and the Mediterranean) were huge. There are several pools, one of which is in a garden dome, which retracts when the weather is fine. The atmosphere is cosmopolitan with passengers from all over Europe and Australia. There are almost no overhead announcements to distract you or disrupt your play and all the staff speak perfect English. It is also totally relaxed, so no need for tux or gown although you might want to bring a sport coat or cocktail dress. Soak in one of the many hot-tubs or visit the spa for a steam and massage, mani and pedi or whatever your heart desires. We don't have kids, but noticed there are programs for both teens and little ones to keep them amused and their parents relaxed. We booked into the "Yacht Club" which is something like first class, and highly recommend it. It's an excellent value because all your liquor, beer, wine, soda, etc is included in the price. You also have open seating in a "Yacht Club" dining room and a pool and other amenities reserved for Yacht Club passengers. What about the ports of call? We left from Barcelona (if you haven't seen it, put it on your bucket list!), visited Tunis and went to the souks (amazing shopping for jewelry, spices and rugs), and old Carthage (remember, Hannibal and the Punic Wars?) From there we went to Sicily (sunny and beautiful), Genoa (old city with those amazing arcade-covered sidewalks lined with beautiful shops and restaurants), Rome (a bus-ride from Civitavecchia), likely the most beautiful place in the world, Marseilles (think, Provence and the Riviera) then back to Barcelona. The staff are superb! We did run into one witchy concierge, but her negativity was so far outweighed by other staff, including the other concierge, our butler who was an Angel, the ship's doctor ( no we didn't get sick, my husband cut himself) , the dining room staff and housekeepers, and our Tour guide in Tunis, Fati, an amazingly knowledgable man with great people-skills All in all, I can say this was definately a five-star cruise and we highly recommend MSC!!!

Wonderful Relaxing Cruise by jeginn10

Sail date: / Traveled as:
Ship: Seabourn Spirit / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

What a great cruise. You were \"pampered to death\". For dining they had about six tables hosted by ships officers or management. I was put into a group that different people were invited to one of these tables each night. Made for an intimate dining session with different people each night. Lots of fun. Lecturers were very good and talked about interesting subjects. As an example one lecturer had about eight sessions concerning space, stars, planets black holes, etc. He then had a star gazing session on several nights at 11:00PM. Being on a small ship enabled you to socialize with a wide variety of people. The food and selection was exceptional. You could get just about anything your hearts desired. Highly recommend a cruise on with Seabourn.

This cruise is not for everyone by jm3647

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Costa Pacifica / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

If you like to experience how European live, you might enjoy the cruise. Overall experience was good, but could be amazing with some small improvements. Food was amazing. Shore excursion staffs were rude and not very bright. When we purchased the excursion, they did not tell us when and where we should gather. When I went to ask them, the male staff looked at me as if I was retarded, and pointed out the tiny prints on bottom of daily activity sheets. We were on vacation. It should not be our job to study the fine prints when we purchase the tour. I did not purchase any tour from them afterward. Costa may try to broadcast the announcement through TV channel use different languages or subtitles instead of announce once. My cruise experience would be a lot more pleasant. There were some people booked the flight close to debarking. However, the ship took our passport and did not give us back until the ship docked. The cruise line should advise passengers do not book the flight too close to debark to avoid heart attack.

First Costa Cruise - Poor Dining Experiences! by habsfan1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Costa Pacifica / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

My wife and I travelled with our three year old on our first Costa cruise and dining experiences were extremely disappointing for many reasons: - we ordered a hamburger for m son it was not cooked. We sent it back to only receive another hamburger cooked even less than the first! - a beef dish that I ordered was raw. I had it sent back and what came back was as raw as the first. - we had very long waits during dinner, sometimes as much as 30 minutes between dishes served. - on our last night, we were one of the first people to arrive in the Your Way dining; others that sat later than us were served before us. Better attention to detail required! The mandatory "hotel charge" was a surprise to us. When discussing this with the staff, the explained it's tip for the workers. I am accustomed to tip for good service. Having to play for subpar service does not see righ to mel

Interesting by dawn33528

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Jade / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

The ship felt schizophenic. We were in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea on a ship that was completely Hawaiian...even with a statue of King Kamehameha in the main dining room and Hawaiian motif everywhere. Even the jewelry for sale was Caribbean rather than items indiginous to the Mediterranean area.
