Completely beyond expectations! by onceinalifetime

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Celebrity Reflection / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

I suppose its partly the people you choose to travel with, or the people you meet along the way and spend time with, but I can't imagine a better travel experience.  Getting onboard was fast and uncomplicated; it took less than 10 minutes!  Perhaps because the ship began early in the morning and we arrived around 3 pm (sailing at 5), there were no lines at all.  We were booked into one of the Celebrity Reflection's Sky Suites, which are larger than traditional balcony rooms and include a wonderful jetted bathtub (!) as well as a shower that has multiple showerheads for a spa-like shower massage experience. The suite included a butler, with whom we were not entirely sure what to do - he offered to help us unpack, which we declined. He also brought us a tray of treats daily, such as hummus and pita chips, fresh fruit, and champagne which he chilled in a bucket.  Our room attendant, Ermolindo, was absolutely wonderful and always smiling and attentive to our every need. The room was always spotless (as much as it could be, with two women traveling with all our product and clothing and shoes!)  We purchased a drink package so there would be no surprises on our room bill at the end, which we felt was definitely worth the cost.  The onboard activities were varied and we were never bored; we played in trivia contests, a ping-pong tournament, a "baggo" competition (a game we've always known as "Cornhole"), and air hockey.  There are activities for every taste and inclination.  The pool area was only crowded on one day, but we still were able to find two loungers next to each other on the upper deck.  The specialty restaurants -- which inexplicably were free to us every time -- were unbelievable. My favorite was Qsine, which serves food in a fun and different way.  Every dish was perfection.  Blu, the restaurant especially reserved for Aqua Class Suite guests, was delicious, for both breakfast and dinner.  The hosts were the very picture of welcoming charm, Arturo especially.  He truly made us feel like celebrities.  It amazes me that within a couple of days, the various personnel knew us by name -- either they're awesome or we're *really* memorable:)  We only tried the cafeteria-style dining room a couple of times for a quick lunch; the food was  good, but crowding and competing with other cruisers for the various food stations was not my cup of tea.  I was very glad to have Blu!  We also tried the Opus, the main dining room, with our new crowd of (8) friends.  The service, atmosphere, and food were all excellent there as well.  Tip: if you can't find what you want on the menu, just ask.  They will bring it!

The entertainment staff was so far above what I've previously experienced cruising (I'm admittedly  inexperienced -- only one prior cruise, on Princess in Alaska; my roommate agreed, having cruised previously several times on Carnival) that there was no comparison.  The shows are just great.  The comedians were very funny and worked well with the crowd. There were several theme dance parties too, such as 80's night; the ship's website said there would be a 70's party and a 50's party, which didn't happen (somewhat disappointingly), but the dances they had were a lot of fun, with a lot of people up and dancing.

Getting on and off the boat for excursions was also easy; we only waited in line for the first one, and that was because we had an early meeting time for the excursion, so had to be off the ship in the first group.

I really can't say enough good things about this beautiful ship and the excellent staff, and will definitely cruise Celebrity again!

worst cruise because of noise by highflyerman

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Noordam / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

All 4 rooms in our party were upgraded to deck 8.The Lido deck was above and we could hear chairs being moved and passenger foot traffic day and night. We didn't get a good nights sleep the entire trip.My wife's suitcase was held for security check and after removing all the contents on the floor in a room on lower deck they found a small blunt nose scissors that had gone through MCO and JFK with no problem. The scissors were returned to us.We than had to carry our suitcase to our cabin with all the now wrinkled cloths.

Wonderful cruise, but learned a lot! by davidcheers

Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

This ship was wonderful. This is only our second cruise but with our first being on the much smaller Enchantment of the Seas, this was a huge step up for us. Our Grand Suite was roomy and nicely appointed. The entertainment was good, the food was good, but for someone from the states it takes a little getting used to. I happen to like hot dogs and hamburgers for a midnight snack, but the late night food is much more european, this was a big disappointment for me.

Great from start to finish. by allenmeier

Overall, most things were excellent, and I felt happy to be aboard. My one cosmetic criticism involves the glass windows and railings not being kept clean. On a Disney cruise this was almost an obsession with the crew; here it was ignored. I know it's a big job, but it would have really enhanced the overall feel.

Ship: Serenade of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

I think the ship was great i stayed on deck 3 and really was happy there it seemed deck 4 would have been louder. I took several of the tours and all were top notch. this was my first cruise and i wish i would have done it sooner. Definitely a great way to see Europe way more relaxing was to see lots of great sites.

Not spectacular. by despinaurp

Ship: Norwegian Epic / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

The ship was big and beautiful. The casino was filled with smokers and in middle of the ship. We took a western meditteranean cruise. I was not happy with ports of call , which were 2 hours away from city, forcing us to spend 4 hours a day on bus. would not recommend and I've been on 5 Caribbean cruises.

Not what I expected by mariobenavidesb

Ship: Norwegian Epic / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

A couple of years ago, my wife and I took a Caribbean cruise on board the Norwegian Pearl, it was the best experience I've had with cruises, so we chose Norwegian again, but the Epic turned out to be a great disappointment and did not fulfill our expectations.

Will never cruise MSC again by woodjm7

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: MSC Preziosa / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

I will never cruise with MSC again. I was not impressed at all. The excursion to Tunis, Tunisia - booked through the cruise line - was a high pressured sales pitch from the merchants in the street.

ship did not live up to expectations. trouble with children in the solarium adults with children and water guns one day and other days children running around. trouble with soap and shampoo in room ... it took 2 days too get some in the room asked for extra pillow ..that took 1 day ... after getting hung up on by the help desk twice.. biggest complaint was the shops charging $12 extra per shirt over the M.S.R.P. .... tags were not labeled on all shirts I tried to purchase

Wonderfully Exhausting Cruise by dbarakat

Sail date: / Traveled as:
Ship: Norwegian Epic / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

Huge, fantastic, beautiful, looks like there's a lot to do, but when you look closer, not so much. The parties on deck always seemed to be the same. Even though we went to areas that were supposedly restricted to adults, we still found children (no enforcement). The ship seems to cater more to younger children, with the smaller pools and the water slides. A lot of the activities could have gone either way, but it seemed like they were overtaken by the kids. The basketball/soccer court, the rock climbing wall, the pools and hot tubs, the water slides. Even the adult parties seemed to attract parents with their children. The evening entertainment seemed to be the only thing that mainly attracted adults which was a fantastic array of options including: Blue Man Group, a Cirque and dinner show etc. All of the dining areas were great, the variety of food was wonderful, but the majority of the restaurants were specialty dining for an extra fee. The only specialty restaurant we went to was a disappointment. But everything else was great!!
