Beautiful Mediterranean by cjohnson2307

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Fantasia / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

Great cruise ship, especially when staying in the Yacht Club. This was our 3rd cruise, the other two were in the Caribbean. MSC did a fine job and we would use MSC again.

Great Mediterranean cruise by moyenoj

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Symphony of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

It was a great cruise ship, very big, a lot of amenities. Great port of call. Very happy with the service and the port of calls. The only thing that I would change to make it perfect is to stay a little longer, since sometimes we had to board around 4pm to 5pm and there are big cities and many things to do with little time.

Mediterranean Cruise that was truly Epic by CaptainDaddy

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Epic / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

We read a lot of reviews prior to our vacation, probably more than we should have. We started to question whether we picked the right ship as we read some reviews that were very critical of the ship, the service staff, and the food. I understand that many people have very high expectations. As for our group of 8, we just went in with an open mind willing to have a great time. We were catered to every way possible and treated well beyond our expectations. I would cruise with Norwegian again and again.

Great ship with lots to do by r3gen

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Symphony of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

This cruise was a week of fun for me and the friends I was traveling with. We took advantage of many of the fun activities on board including the escape room and laser tag. The escape room was very well designed with quality props. There was one feature that wasn't working properly so that caught us up a bit. However, we still escaped with a large chunk of time left. I would say that the puzzles were fairly easy, but it was still a lot of fun. We also bought a 5 night dinning package on board the ship. We dined at 150 Central Park, Hooked, Chops, Wonderland, and Jamie's Italian. Jamie's and Chopped had really amazing food and great service. Wondering was also a very fun experience. Hooked was very mediocre and though the mussels were absolutely delicious, the rest of the food we got was mediocre, though service was great. 150 Central Park was pretty good, but the food wasn't overly noteworthy and our server was really obnoxious constantly trying to upsell us on the add-on items and more expensive wines. He was also pretty pretentious. Main dining was... main dining; nothing to write home about, but decent food. When it came to the buffet, I was pleasantly surprised as the food exceeded my expectations. I can't say they were very high going in, but I found it pretty easy to find something enticing and delicious each day. Despite the number of people on the ship, it never felt terribly crowded. The sea day was the only time that it was more challenging to find lounge chairs, but there were still plenty of chairs that were available. This ship has a pretty good nightlife too. Never went to the jazz club, but did go to the nightclub which was pretty fun and I really enjoyed their "silent" parties where everyone gets headphones and can choose between different channels to listen to and dance or watch others dance to different things. Lots of fun!

How can I ever take a short cruise again!!! by mamalisax2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Independence of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

As far as cruise excursions are concerned, mix it up! There are several ports where you are very close to the city center and you can explore on your own! Villefranche is a close 10 minute bus ride away, Barcelona and Lisbon you walk right in the middle of the action! Rome and Florence and Pisa are an hour and 1/2 away and you can only do so much but just remember to enjoy your time and don’t worry about what you can’t get to! But most of all.. mind your time!!!Tours WILL leave you!!!We took a transportation tour to Rome with a smartphone GPS , we were 4 of us with 2 phones.. we were told a meeting time and we later received a text with a different meeting time on one of the phones and they left us!!! Our original meeting time was 2:45 and the text said 3:00, we arrived at 2:55 and were left behind! Turned out that one of the phones given to us was registered to another tour! Not our fault!! We were lucky to have found a different tour bus from the same company that took us back to the ship, but we should have been reimbursed more than the 20% refund we received!!! That was our only disappointment! Everything else was wonderful! And the cruise director Joffe was a hoot!!!!

Excellent first time cruiser by IndyShipmate

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Independence of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

Cruise was a fantastic experience. Food, service, entertainment and cabin were excellent. However, make sure you get a cabin w/out a connecting door (locked or not). We had the family from Hell next door and it took security and the customer services 6 days to get the matter under control, so we could get some sleep! Many excursions far too expensive (we did Rome and Pisa), with a little research Barcelona, Gibraltar, Nice / Monaco, Lisbon & Vigo all fully accessible from the port and easy to do on your own. But DON`T be late back as the ship won`t wait !!

Symphony was clean and beautiful, the service however was terrible. by Domino1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Symphony of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

As a Diamond Plus with 26 cruise with RCCL and going in September on Freedom they need to step it up, or we'll be cruising another line. Bar service tried every chance they had to over charge. Choice of alcohol in Diamond Lounge was terrible. Food on board was horrible, only Park 150 and Hooked were excellent.

Excellent ports, beautiful Med cruise by kellzcruz

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Symphony of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

Overall excellent cruise! Very port intensive but that is what we wanted. Time spent on the ship was relaxing and the food was good but could use some improvement in the main dining room. We noticed the crew was very geared towards upselling, (even little popcorn boxes ) but we just skipped whatever was not included. We did not purchase a drink package due to it's high cost, however we brought two bottles of wine on board, had a bottle of champagne waiting for us when we boarded, and enjoyed the flavored water and coffee/tea. (Coffee was a tad strong for me though) We loved the solarium! The restaurant was excellent and we ate there twice, there were couch hogs on the little cabana beds, which was unfortunate because they did not use them all day and no one else could. Zip lined and it was awesome! The balcony room was the best part of our stay on the Symphony. We hope to sail her again soon!

Good holiday by melllll

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

Overall had a great holiday, my main issue was on sea days sunbeds were very difficult to get as people reserved them from early in the morning, they are supposed to remove towels on unused chairs after 30 minutes but this rarely happens, i saw sunbeds unoccupied for over 2 hours

Wonderful Mediterranean cruise by gilljenky

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Celebrity Reflection / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

From the moment we checked in to the moment we disembarked we had a wonderful time. Food was outstanding. We had a 5 night speciality dining package and ate in Murano x 2, Tuscan grill, Lawn club and Qsine could not fault food and service. Great shows in the theatre especially Steve Larkins as Mercury Rising and comedian Ralph Harris. The production cast were the best we’ve seen and the orchestra led by musical director Ross were brilliant. Great ports of call.

A lifetime of vacation in one vacation by AccElan01

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Norwegian Epic / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

The ship is modern and clean. It's big (13 largest in the world, I think), but never felt chaotic or overcrowded. The first full day was the day at sea, and we were tired from travelling. We slept until 9:30, got into swimwear, and headed up to deck 15 (pool deck). It took 10 minutes to find lounge chairs since we had a late start. There were two breakfasts at the buffet that seemed a little frantic because many people chose that option. Otherwise, the quantity of people was not a problem. Our cabin steward was amazing. The staff are pleasant and almost always say hello when passing by. The food was very good, and the options changed enough to keep us interested. We really like the formal dining venue "Taste". The Mediterranean cruise was amazing. We agreed that it was like a lifetime of vacations in a single trip. Pompeii, the Amalfi Coast, Rome, Pisa, Tuscany, Cannes, Nice, Monaco, Palma de Mallorca. All were wonderful. We booked every excursion through NCL. It was more expensive to book through them rather than independently, but we wanted the confidence of the ship waiting for us if we returned late, and all of them were of high quality. I have nothing negative to say about the entire cruise. Thank you, NCL!

Not Epic but not bad... by mamakwas70

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Norwegian Epic / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

The cruise was good. Food was good but not outstanding. Most of the staff was good but found main dining room and bartenders not overly friendly. Wenwere a group of six adults who don’t drink so once they knew that they weren’t super attentive especially at the Spice H2O bar. Our room steward Junior was fantastic! He found out it was my husbands birthday and decorated our room with balloons, confetti heart in the bed and a bottle of champagne! The onboard entertainment is severely lacking. There was no English speaking comedian, only Spanish. For the size of the ship the theatre was small and you couldn’t get into the show if you didn’t book ahead of time. We went to watch Burn the Floor and walked out because it was not good. We have been on other cruises where we went to the theatre every night and the shows were fantastic. Not on this ship. Having said that, the dueling piano bar, Howl at the Moon was terrific! They have theee of the most talented musicians working there. They were so fun and put on a great show every night! The Cirque Dreams show was also very good. You have to pay to go see it but it was entertaining. It’s too bad that isn’t the main show every night or something like it.

Liked the cruise and the ship over all! Maybe the ship is about as big as it's possible to handle... Maybe cabinattendants had to many cabins/p to make a great job???
