Overall it was good and clean by Paymybill1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Epic / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

There were many thing about the cruise experience that could have been better. The first is the internet café. It was over priced and the computers were slow which increased the amount of money you were charged. Secondly, we were informed that on our last day we could pay cash for our balance. However, the ATM machine was conveniently turned off. There were no power outages. The next is the Mandera Spa services that we received. Staff member Farah was exceptionally professional and my sister really enjoyed her spa time. However other staff members were not so professional. I received a hot wax of my chin which the cost was $15- that is reasonable. She said she wanted to shape my brows. She plucked a few only a few hairs of my eyebrows and charged me $50 for that. That is outrageous. It is my fault that I didn't say anything about it sooner. The receipt kind of through me off guard. Further, the spa did not inform us neither was it visibly published that if you can not keep a spa appointment you will be charged 50% for the service anyway. I know the spa is separate from "Norweigian" however, they are operating a business entity on the ship and should be more flexible to customers who have legitimate excuses for not keeping appointments. What women doesn't want a spa treatment? I had a reasonable excuse why I couldn't but the assistant manager didn't want to hear it. I was exhausted and my feet were swollen like two balloons from walking on cobble stones and hills for 4 hours. I was then told to come and speak with the manager of the spa, which I had to walk so far from my stateroom to get to. The manager and I came to a resolution and she was professional and helpful. The Assist. Manager was rude to me and my sister. Fourthly, the "washie washie" girls who sprayed you when you entered any eating establishment and at the entrance of the ship. They did not give you an opportunity to manually hold your hands under the sanitizer machines that were there. They just rudely sprayed you as you came in. Norwegian did not inform us on their website that this would be taking place. I understand that it is convenient and hygiene is important, however violating a person's personal space is unacceptable. Next I had put some items in the refrigerator. When I came back to my stateroom the refrigerator was locked and my items were left out to spoil. Why????? Again we were not informed that the cleaning staff locks the refrigerator. When booking my stateroom on that was one of my request to have a functional refrigerator so I can put my things in it. I do not drink alcohol only shifted it to make room for my things. The cleaning crew was apologetic and the manager even called to apologize and he explained that this was procedure on the last day to lock the refrigerator. Again, we were not informed in advance of this procedure. Lastly, the ship had a lot of children on it. Running into people taking over the pool area. The adult pool was so small and crowded at the back of the ship, a little tiny space you could enjoy because you had to walk between two ping pong tables and watch out for flying balls. We never got in the pool. Next, the gratuities charge. This charge should be included in the package not in addition to the total cost of the expensive cruise. We were informed of this in advance but it would have been nice to included with the package just like the insurance. No one wants to go on vacation and have additional fees added at the beginning of the trip, and then additional charges for restaurants as well. The accommodations were tight but clean. Lastly, there were some good things about the ship. The crew was excellent and efficient. Our staterooms were clean and the linen was clean and smelled good. The food was excellent, the music and performers, such as Nathaniel the piano player and singer were talented (give him a bonus), and the activities were fun and great. The cleaning crew of the stateroom always greeted you and called us by name. We were impressed that a ship can have three cruises at one time. We've never experienced that before and were impressed with that. All of the staff had smiles and were working very hard to make everyone on board's experience pleasant. In the future I will be more proactive to find out more about the policies of the ship and additional fees.

Good experience, loved the ports by Ginnyhuguley

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Sunshine / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

We enjoyed the cruise but we missed some of the amenities we had experienced on other cruises. We missed the opportunities to have dance areas with music after the show, daily activities like classes - dance lessons, classes such as jewelry making, dance lessons etc, chocolate night in the dining room, chocolate every night on the pillow ,game shows for adults and theme night up on the pool deck like Caribbean night . The food was great, the staff very accommodating. The ships excursions seemed to be well accommodated but there was very little information available for those going ashore - such as shuttle services. No one seemed to know where and when but transportation was usually there when we finally found it. The evening shows were great as was the newly renovated ship.

Navigator Mediterranean cruise was great by HBmom

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

Really enjoyed this cruise. The ship is in good shape (we did the Oasis in November, so obviously nothing will compare) and the itinerary was great. Hired private tours in most ports (Athens, Ephesus, Sicily) and enjoyed the ports immensely - wish they would allow for longer days in port though. Generally you have to be back on board 1/2 hour before the stated deportation time on the itinerary and it's 1/2 hour between docking and deportation, so many of the days were very short. be careful in Crete, as the shuttle back to make that early afternoon deadline was full and getting back on time was very challenging. Definitely could change the Crete port to something else - its a nice enough little town, but nothing to write home about (no need for a tour here - just hop the shuttle into town and then take a long walk to a beach if you want). We had a balcony room and an inside room - the inside room felt very small, but was quiet and perfectly adequate. all the staff on board are amazing - even with the now mandatory pre-paid tips they still went out of their way to be nice and very helpful and all were very professional. by the way, even infants pay those pre-paid tips! Food was not at all great - nothing at all to get excited about, even in the specialty restaurants. One of the few cruises where I did not gain weight as nothing really seemed worth eating on the ship. Wish they would focus their menu more on local favorites from each port town - makes it more authentic and interesting. the food on this cruise was the exact same menu as the November cruise out of Florida. Our friends were on a similar trip on NCL - we ran into them in two ports - they enjoyed their cruise perhaps more than we did - better food, less "extra charges", and more/longer/better port stops. my teen daughter enjoyed the teen club and the kids club and arcade were popular. My 18 year old was lost - too old for the teen club and nothing to do. the pools were way too small for a 3000 person ship, and one was always closed on "at sea" days, making the water in the only open pool really disgusting really quickly. never enough deck chairs. biggest complaint about RCI on these last two cruises was the "added charges" - constant attempt to get you to spend more money on "extras" - not just alcohol, but specialty dining, ice cream, espresso at dinner, coffee and Starbucks, etc. etc. etc. We had the soda package, which saved money, but it did feel as though the people at the bar were resentful whenever you asked for a free soda. When I tried to ask the excursion people about the towns we were going to and "low-cost options" for getting into town, they were very, very rude and unhelpful - they work on commission, so telling you that the shuttle to Chania town in Crete is only a few euros was not in their best interest - so they just flat out refused to give me any info at all. About any port. unless I was buying an excursion, which I was not going to do. this was really, really annoying. One staff member actually told me that she had never been to town in that port - which cannot possibly be true! she told me to wait until I was off the boat and ask the tourist information at the port about my options!!!! We did run into the huge group RCI excursions in every port - I'm sure they were fine, but they were huge busloads of people following a person with a sign and listening on headphones to the canned and boring sounding "talk" of the guide - every one of those people could have downloaded a Rick Steve's free audioguide and hired a taxi and gotten the same exact tour for way less money. (maybe not in Turkey, as the interesting Ephesus site is very far from the port town). We liked Ephesus best of all the ports (again, we had hired private guides) but also really enjoyed Athens and the volcano and town in Sicily. Best gelato was in Taormino in Sicily! Apparently this is the Navigator's last summer in Europe and now she will be refurbished and sail out of Galveston. It will be interesting to see what ship replaces her in the Mediterranean.

Great Cruise in the Mediterranean by Sarasmile

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Celebrity Silhouette / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

Vey pleased with our cruise in the Mediterranean. Silhouette is wonderful vessel with a superb Captain and Crew. Remarkable ease and timing to move 2800 people around for all activities. Service is excellent if not a bit over the top in some aspects. Plentiful and good food aboard and all one can want in terms of activities. The entertainment was first rate as well. Some room for improvement would include the following: 1) Add laundromats on this or future vessels as some cruise lines have. Would help a lot with cothes one has to bring aboard for a long cruise like ours. Landry service OkK but not inexpensive. 2) On port tours, provide more free time in port cities. Local restaurants are outstanding but not enough time to access unless one foregoes the tours. We did this in Split and would have done more in retrospect. 3) Move up requirement for leaving stateroom by 8 AM on disembarkation day to 9 AM.

Legend of the Seas - 7 night Western Med. by Appreciation

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Legend of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

We were in the royal suite which was the largest suite on the boat. It was very nice, modern and luxurious however, the tempterature in the master bedroom never really got cold. The crew made several attempts to remedy the situation and it did get better, but never cold. Otherwise a very nice trip. Crew was great. entertainment was so so. Food was generally good. Chops restaurant was excellent.

For the younger crowd by BroomHilda

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Epic / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

This cruise was taken for the itinerary and the fact that it was "round trip". The Epic was a larger ship than I generally care for, but the fact that it was aimed at a younger age group felt OK, as I was traveling with my 18 yr old granddaughter. Overall, service was very good, but everything was crowded and noisy. I was disappointed in a few things such as almost no library, just one bookcase, and there were no church services.

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)

This cruise was great! All the places we visited was an awesome experience and historical moment. This cruise is more of an experience than fun. If you are traveling from the US be sure to take in condition the difference in currency. That was a big blow for my family!

Costa service getting worse by Patty8

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Costa Favolosa / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

I start with the good things, very nice cabin, clean, and confortable. Good shows. Staff not friendly at all. Food very poor variety. Service bad. Most of the machines were not working, like to get ice, coffee or water. During the buffet, staff was not cleaning tables. Disrty tables all the time. For breakfast no variety. No milk sometimes, no more buffet after 3pm. only cheesse pizza. Sandwich service, one person making sandwiches taking hours. At the restaurant, you have to ask for water like 5 or 6 times, they don't care. very slow service. People at the reception had no patience. Lack of information in all the ship. You didn't know where to go to exit the ship in every port. TV progrmas not good only news, if you wanted to watch a movie you had to pay $7.50 euros. The adults pool, full of kids, jumping and screaming. I could keep going on and on. Advise, do not book Costa. Princess is number one.

terrible experience by chung

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Equinox / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

I did not enjoy at all. I do not drink, you guys charge even water and coke or juice(smoothies) Your swimming pool is so small, that is the one I do to get exercise everyday. I could not enjoy the facilities that you have...size of swimming pool was so disappointed.... I loved maid services everyday... but I do not know you need to clean twice a day. One time a day will be enough for me. Your food was so boring....not high quality...

holiday with my family by hejsansvejsan

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

Over all it was a rather relaxing experience. We were travelling with my parents in their eighties and our children just over 20. My parents enjoyed the journey, the staff where extremely friendly and despise my parents lack of English they found they could manage them self very well. Our children quickly bonded to other youngsters and they formed a group which I believe they still keep in touch with. Yes the food was excellent. the staff great. The ship was clean and well looked after.

35th anniversary trip by clg

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

This cruise was more than what we expected. Every employee was absolutely excellent in work ethic, helpfulness, and friendliness. Our steward and servers were top-notch and fun. The entertainment was good and enjoyable. The ship was superb in every way, too. I can think of nothing that we were disappointed by. We would definitely use Royal Caribbean again if we decided to do another cruise. Thanks for a marvelous voyage and experience!

had a great time in europe by lovingcruise

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Norwegian Epic / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

We enjoyed this cruise very much, not only is it a newer ship, with more to offer such as good size gym, casino, and water slides, but entertainment and cabin staffs were wonderful! The only downside was the dining service, service at The Taste (one of the complimentary main dining hall) was terrible! Wait staffs looked mad and not wanting to work there. The internet department staff was very unfriendly too - very impatient with our problem. We only ate at Taste one night and never went back there. We've been on many cruises, including Royal Carribean, Holland America, Disney, and Celebrity, I am sad to say Norwegian's service is the worst.

From checking in to checking out. by Manwar

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Splendour of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Eastern Mediterranean

Everything about the cruise it self was great. Checking in at the port in Venice on the morning of 8th June was quite comfortable and impressive. I note the efficiency and friendliness of the staff members. Then getting on board was a new experience. the friendly and helpful staff members, then the lunch on the first day., and off course the meals just got better as the days went by. The services at the meal halls were fantastic. The ship was most comfortable, and sailing was smooth from beginning to end. The entire organisation on board was just great and I take note of Excellence in planning, organisation, communication, training of staff members in all areas, time management, and off course, leadership. These are all very important for the success of any organisation. The Entertainment was well planned and great, never a boring moment, so much to do. The wife and husband team with their drummer and Piano player were just great, for they provide play back songs as well as recent ones. The crowd control and discipline, even amongst the people ( travellers) were off a high standard. This cruise was like a big city with all comforts moving on the seas, yet still you can hardly think that you are moving on the seas.
