My 1st cruise by Jruth28

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Star / Destination: Europe - Eastern Mediterranean

This was my first cruise ever and I really enjoyed myself. I’m 28, single, w/ no children. I came on the cruise with my 2 sisters, their 3 kids (12-17), our mother, and my best friend. Not the best cruise for small children or kids who live in the pool since there is only 1 and it’s small. Visited every port except Dubrovnik. I will suggest that you have a plan for each port but no pre-paid excursions or tours. Time constraints can make previously planned and pre-paid events difficult to attend. Also, biggest cost was on transportation in each port. Traveling in a group, with proper negotiation skills, can bring down the price. My sister was almost stranded in Dubrovnik with a large group of other cruise passengers so pay attention to your time. Go in off season and it will be more enjoyable. Overall I had a great experience.

Started Poorly- Ended Excellent by dyermanclubdoug

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Star / Destination: Europe - Eastern Mediterranean

Overall, this being our third NCL cruise with a family of ten,it was quite good,Having cruised on newer ships and being in the Haven we constantly compared and found things which fell short of our expectations,By our knowledge we got the service which should have been provided.Case in point,You didn't asked for comments of our Disembarkation.Thats where NCL stepped up and provide us with excellent service. They provided me with a wheel chair and guide to take me and my family to where you get the water taxi to our hotel. This helped all of us a lot.

Excellent Cruise.. Awful ports by britt12318533

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Star / Destination: Europe - Eastern Mediterranean

Overall great ship. Although a little tired. Cabin 9019 was nice and quiet. Close to the theater and a couple of restaurants. No information regarding formal night so we missed out but didn't notice people dressed up. Lovely cruise, I just don't recommend the ports.

I can't say enough of the service on this ship! I would sail again with Rhapsody of the Seas based on the impeccable service from the crew. Excellent!

Exactly what I expected from RC. by andresedepina

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Rhapsody of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Eastern Mediterranean

Would not repeat this cruis ship. Staff needs to improve their english speaking skills as well as guest experience training. Food was dreadful with the exception of Giovannis. Pool experience was terrible-too many people. Kids should not be allowed in hot tubs.

Great Mediterranean Cruise by chwillou

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Rhapsody of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Eastern Mediterranean

Great cruise. The service was marvelous. Our only complaint was the quality of the food at the buffet. The dining room is excellent but the buffet left alot to be desired.

Norwegian Star Adriatic Cruise by jenpr

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Norwegian Star / Destination: Europe - Eastern Mediterranean

I was very disappointed in the iConcierge service/app (communicating with other passengers). It cost $9.99 and worked so sporadically it wasn't worth it! And there was no way to explore Dubrovnik without PAYING to get somewhere. If you're going to port away from a town center you should INCLUDE a shuttle to the town. Instead Norwegian charged $15 per person or you could pay for your own cab. But it was way too far away to walk to anything. Very disappointing! The "Ultimate" beverage package did not include coffee shops or water. Are you kidding me?

Excellent Adriatic Cruise by Funwashad

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Star / Destination: Europe - Eastern Mediterranean

Great cruise overall. All port calls were very busy and congested with heavy traffic and a lot of tourists. The crowds were manageable but it created lost time in sightseeing.

Expect Beautiful Scenery & Bad Food by tisHeather

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Star / Destination: Europe - Eastern Mediterranean

It’s like a Holiday Inn & TGIFriday’s meets cruise ship. If you go with those expectations, you will not be disappointed. The ship is older and cabin bathrooms need an update. Most notably the food/menu needs a complete makeover! Recommend this cruise in Sept-October.

Not a very good cruise by bfallan

Ship: MSC Sinfonia / Destination: Europe - Eastern Mediterranean

I wouldn't recommend a cruise on the Sinfonia. We did the 7-day eastern Mediterranean cruise out of Venice. This ship is on the small side and the on board activities are limited, but we booked it because we were excited about the itinerary. Unfortunately the ship had mechanical issues so we missed the stop in Mykonos entirely (and it was only going to be a few hours anyway, the way the itinerary was advertised is misleading). Not only was this disappointing, but MSC was very reluctant to provide updates about what was happening, so we were stressed not knowing how much additional disruption to expect. But the biggest complaint would be the food. We booked the Aurea package, and despite reading some negative reviews about the food before we left, assumed that having the my choice dining in the Il Covo restaurant would get us access to a higher quality of dining. That was not the case. We got sick off the food our fist night on the ship, and a number of the dishes we were served throughout the cruise were simply inedible. After our dinners in Il Covo we would go to the buffet looking for other options, and what really floored us was that a number of the dishes served in Il Covo each evening were also served on the buffet. So all the Aurea dining package bought us was the same bad food as the buffet but plated and brought to us by a waiter. I wish I had taken the negative reviews of the food more seriously before I booked the cruise, it was really disappointing. I will give credit to the staff, who for the most part we found helpful and friendly. When the boat had mechanical problems, they were stuck in the same situation as us not knowing what was happening, and they tried their best to keep things positive. Overall, based on our experience, I wouldn't recommend a cruise on the Sinfonia.

NCL Star 7/2018 great cruise by bnrein

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple

Disembarkation was terrible. NCL staff said they hadn't docked at that terminal before. We were in lines with only one elevator. Ship was nice & clean and staff were great.

Loved the ship and crew. But the passengers made my vacation the worst ever. by Gennene75

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: MSC Musica / Destination: Europe - Eastern Mediterranean

Cruise ship and service was great. The other passengers made this vacation awful for my family and myself. They were very very rude and unwelcoming. This is the first time in my life I felt really uncomfortable and welcomed by so many people, and was trapped on a ship with this fee8for 7 days........

Disappointed in the staff, embarkation and disembarkation process by mjoparris

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Sinfonia / Destination: Europe - Eastern Mediterranean

I believe that by taking away the opportunity for the crew to gain tips for giving quick, efficient service with a smile (none of the staff smiled at passengers except for the wait staff in the My Choice Dinning room) may be one of the reasons most of the staff seemed to hate their jobs. This new policy regarding tips is the only thing I can think of that may have caused such a different experience with the staff on board this ship as compared to my experience 3-4 years ago on an MSC cruise out of Rome where the entire staff was always friendly and helpful.

Loved the Greek islands by rasmussenspi

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Riviera / Destination: Europe - Eastern Mediterranean

Beautiful stops, but many were overcrowded so traveling in Sept/Oct might be better than July. We used the Oceania excursions in most ports and the tour guides were excellent. Cavtat was a beautiful harbor and Rhodes was less crowded with great shopping. We were surprised to learn about the way the grapes grow in Santorini and the white wine was quite good.

Be prepared to be under impressed by kateeaf323

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Star / Destination: Europe - Eastern Mediterranean

Norwegian wants to nickel and dime everything. Food was awful. Hospitality was zero! Most ports were tinder and it was a two to three hour ordeal to leave the ship. Each post was almost 4 hours, by the time you got off and had to wait in line to get on the ship again. We had a private photographer booked for our 15year wedding anniversary, and they would not allow us to leave slightly early to make our appointment for Santorini. We ended up missing our appointment, no one from management cared. There were no feminine hygiene products that were available in case of an emergency!
