Great time by charlesfiranek

Overall, I had a great time on this cruise, other than the debarkation and the slow sit in restaurant service.

Great bucket list choice - Alaskan cruise on Discovery Princess by DandGBrown

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Discovery Princess

This was our first cruise to a place that was not warm, so it was a little different not being able to hang out on the deck a lot. It was very chilly and rainy 60% of our cruise. With that being said, the crew did a pretty good job of keeping the activities flowing. I liked to sit and people-watch above the piazza.

Excellent Alaska Cruise by bennettmt62

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Discovery Princess

Overall, it was what I expected and very pleased with the experience. In all honestly, I doubt I would take a ship of this size on a warm weather cruise, the wet cold weather is a great equalizer, people stay under cover and inside. On the final day it was sunny and relatively warm, the sun deck was crazy. I feel that Princess does a great job managing all the people, obviously they have done this a long time and have it figured out. In the end, you create your own enjoyment and memories, we achieved that. Kudos on the Medallion program, pretty slick program!!

Fun and relaxing Alaska Cruise by marie80911920

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Eurodam

Everyone says you spend no time in your room, so getting an inside room is great, but I truly enjoyed sitting out on the varandah watching the whales and scenery as we were sailing. It is truly worth the money to get a varandah! There is so much food that one must be careful about eating too much. There are so many activities that you are never bored and I do not think I have ever been so relaxed as I was at the end of this trip!

Great cruise! Our first time to see Alaska. Jamies Italian restaurant is a cut above all the others. Even the hamburger looked awesome! Highly recommend!

Honest Alaska Cruise by jhirsch620

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Ovation of the Seas

After we got through our initial issues with booking, which ended up being an absolute nightmare. We had booked for 5 in 2 rooms knowing that one might cancel, we paid extra for refundable tickets. When we went to cancel the one, our agent had booked the 3 in to a room that REQUIRED a minimum of 3 people in it, so they had to cancel the entire trip and re-book. Because of that, instead of saving us $1000+ like expected, it was only going to save us $63. So we left the 5th person on as it would save us more as we would get taxes and port fees back for our 5th and they just no-showed. VERY disappointed in that aspect of the trip. After that booking excursions at first was horrible. The one thing we wanted to do was go fishing in Sitka. I watched the excursions daily and there was no fishing, no fishing, no fishing. The next day, there was fishing, but it was sold out. Tried to go through the ship to have a personal one and was told they didn't have any. We ended up going with an outside company and they were FABULOUS. I think the biggest issue on the cruise was the Amway group. They were catered to by the cruise taking up an entire dining hall every night. They booked out the Solarium a couple of times which was also annoying to be kicked out. We could never get in to the Bumper Cars as that was always booked up by them. They were rude, pushed people out of the way, and seemed to b video blogging the entire time which basically used up all the wifi so communication and such on the ship was horrible. The staff was great in general. Got to know our bartenders and they knew our drinks after a few days which was nice. In general, if it hadn't been for the Amway group and the booking issues, the cruise would have been a lot more enjoyable.

Amazing and Worth it! by clangf

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Ovation of the Seas

This was our first cruise and we were skeptical how it would be with our 4 kids. We read everything we could prior and the best thing was we took Walkie Talkie radios for them to carry around so we would have piece of mind. The Talkies worked great because the internet was touch and go for the app. However after the first few days we felt more free and let our kids enjoy as long as they kept in touch. The hallways were rarely crowded and it was a enjoyable experience. We will diffidently become a cruise family after this trip;

Excellent cruise. Ship and staff were great by gbadger13

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Encore

Excellent cruise but the time in some port were very limited. I might suggest doing the one way cruise in lieu of the round trip.
