Alaska - Gulf of Alaska Cruise Reviews

We were not cruise people prior to this, but this one won us over. True to prior reviews, Holland America caters to more of a senior crowd, which was great for us. The service, food and activities were fantastic.

We were very pleasantly surprised by our experience on this ship. Despite our laughter at some of the decorating choices made back in the nineties, the crew and the procedures on this ship are top notch.

Great experience. Understand you will be "smoking" if you go to the casino, there is really no way to separate smoking and non-smoking in one large area! Caution for those eating dinner at 8 PM - sun is setting and will be shining in someone's eyes! Know that on Royal Caribbean there are formal dining nights, but if you do not want to dress up you can always go to the Windjammer Cafe.

Had a great time! Everywhere is like a postcard view.

Cruising is definitely not my ideal travelling experience - I just prefer to not be on someone else's schedule when I am on vacation (but you don't know unless you try). Otherwise it was a wonderful experience, and I was able to see some areas of Alaska I may not have been able to otherwise. The staff on this ship was amazing, and anyone who gets to be on board with them is in for a treat.

We had sailed up to Alaska from San Francisco 2 years ago. Decided to take our adult sons this time. This was our first time in a suite and it really made the trip. Great space and balcony, access to club class dining and special breakfast area. We love Princess and now on the Suite life.

Wonderful itinerary, great crew and beautiful ship

Indian food definitely needs improvement. It was bland and did not taste like Indian food. Need more vegetarian/vegan choices besides salads and fruits.

We had a really great time! Still had sea legs when we got home and still missing the rocking of the ship at night to lull us to sleep! I would do this again. Thank you.

The weather was excellent except in the Hubbard Glacier it was raining and cold. We are disappointed with the Theater entertainment at night. The food and staff were excellent.

Overall the cruise was very relaxing, the staff was very friendly, and there was always plenty of food to eat. The cruise can be taken without excursions as each port had a town to visit upon immediate departure, but it was nice to see things that we wouldn't have seen if we hadn't gone on excursions. Besides, the local guides told us a lot about the habitat, the culture and the native people. No need to worry about bringing dressy clothes as they are not necessary to eat in the main dining hall. A nice pair of jeans and top with do just fine.

May is an excellent time to visit. No or few children, mostly adults and beautiful weather.

My first cruise was incredible. The scenery in Alaska was majestic and the ship board experience was much more than I imagined. I had a wonderful balance of relaxing on the ship, top notch entertainment and excellent customer service to help me feel pampered.

It was a relaxing cruise overall, glaciers were quite amazing. Beautiful and awesome scenery.

It was a wonderful trip. First cruise but definitely not our last. We had all the comforts on board the ship, great food, great service and lots of entertainment. There was ample time in ports to visit or take excursions.

It was OK, won’t be repeating a Princess Cruise anytime soon.

We thoroughly enjoyed our cruise. We were fortunate to enjoy such lovely weather. If I was a jewelry or art shopper I think I would have felt even more excited about this cruise. We were really surprised at how much focus was placed on shopping for jewelry and the art auction. That would have been the last thing I would have expected on a cruise. Definitely a learning experience. It obviously was a hit for many cruisers were shopping and apparently finding just the right items. Just was not our focus. The “enrichment presentations” were particularly interesting and enjoyable.

Overall we had a wonderful experience on Holland America and based on ecological and environmental guidelines the ship went to sleep at Midnight. It cost a lot but do the helicopter to a glacier and two mile hike

Plenty of wildlife (if you look out) and newly renovated ship is great.

First Alaska cruise.. I would recommend this cruise to anyone interested in going. So beautiful.
