I emarked on the ship at this port. With Royal being too large to fit in the existing terminal a new building that looked like an airplane hanger was used to check-in passengers and issue their cruise cards and then on Disembarkation for customs.

The port itself hosts battleship Iowa, which is a museum. Otherwise not much to do.

Embarkation port----Often I'm not certain what the pre and post cruise hotels cost as we like to use the cruise line transfers and hotel package(s) which are lumped together price wise. Normally I believe the entire package is reasonable----this arrangement has really come in handy in the past when things got confused the day before embarkation due lost airline luggage or other problems. Nothing more comforting than to have an agent at a strange airport with a sign and your name.----If I had to do this over I would have booked two nights at Long Beach in the Princess Hotel selection as I didn't realize there was so much to do here.

No excursion, just boarded the ship. Very clean, moved along fairly quickly and the staff professional.

Put the address into the GPS and it took us to the parking lot directly across from the ship.

We drove down, stayed overnight at the Doubletree in San Pedro. They have free parking and a free shuttle to and from the port. Of course we tipped the driver both ways.
