Review summary

Overall a good time but not spectacular for the most part - food was good but not amazing, and the amenities were good but nothing outstanding.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Very short lines, well organized.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Food was generally pretty good, however many items in the buffet contained nuts (my spouse is allergic) and did not have a dedicated serving utensil, causing many items to become cross-contaminated. The chef in the buffet was great at steering her towards what was safe, and they did a good job in the main dining room of accommodating the allergy. Food in general was good to very good, but there was very little 'Wow' factor. It was on par with what I could get at an upscale casual dining restaurant.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
There were a couple of great dealers in the casino - and I don't just say that because I won some while they were dealing. Spa was good, however one of the saunas in the thermal suite was not working until the end of the last day - frustrating when we've paid to use it. There was regularly one to two hot tubs closed at any time - and that was the only water activity that was possible, as until the end of the last day it was too cold to swim.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
The musicians are generally amazing, and there was a good comedian, however the new magic show they were introducing was... well, there were some good individual magic tricks, however they seemed to try to make a play out of it, but there was no plot I could discern.

Children's Programs

We did not bring our son with us.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Staff were generally attentive, although some seemed that they really did not want to be there.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Ship was clean, layout and design made sense.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Cabin was a good size, nice and clean, bathroom was small and shower was too small for me to effectively use.

Ship tip

Get a pass to the thermal suite, you'll have use of the change rooms and humane showers.

Ports of call

Vancouver (Canada Place), British Columbia

5 out of 5
Very efficient boarding process.

San Pedro (Los Angeles), California

5 out of 5
Very clearly marked disembarking process.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Disembarkation was ahead of schedule. We kept all our luggage with us so I don't know how well the system worked to have it brought out for you
