My favorite part is the Key West Butterfly Conservatory, 1316 Duval St. Found it by accident and loved it. They also have a great gift shop which is always a plus when traveling.

Key West was a fun stop. It was my first time. Cool place loaded with shops, restaurants and bars. Had to try the conchfritters from a few places and loved them. NCL made the entire process simple and quick.

Did the hop on hop off old town trolley. It was nice to see Key West this way + hear some history too of it by the trolley driver. We got off the trolley near the southernmost point and visited the Butterfly and Nature Conservatory, had a nice time there. We made the decision to walk back down Duval St. to do more sightseeing, window shopping. We ate a late lunch at Conch Republic Seafood Company, nice open waterfront resturant with views of a harbor and good, fresh seafood. We walked to Kermit's Key Lime Shoppe to share some key lime pie and had some delicious ice cream at Mattheessen's.

Our favorite! We did the "on off" trolley, the Butterfly Conservatory and E. Hemingway's house . Everything was worth the money we paid. We ate on the 2nd floor porch of a restaurant and had stone crabs. This was by far our favorite port.

Key West is a crazy sort of place with its own mentality. Where else do they celebrate their "wild" chickens and have a "hangover hotline" where a medic will bring you an IV to cure your hangover? We did the Reef and Ritas excursion offered through Priceline. It was amazing in every aspect that they could control--the boat ride, the ambience, the snorkel and safety training, the atmosphere on the boat. Unfortunately, they can't control the weather and it was windy. That means 2-3 foot waves and cloudy water. We saw nothing of the reef because of conditions.

I have been to Key West three times before, so I knew what to expect. This was my daughter’s first visit. It was a hot and humid day, and I can only handle limited sun exposure. Our ship docked at the Navy Pier, which meant that we had to be transported by shuttle to the downtown area. It’s a quick trip, but not as convenient as being downtown where you can easily go back to the ship for a short rest or a package drop off. We arrived in port at 1 PM and had a last call for 7PM. The cruise ship handed out departure tickets so that the gangways and shuttle trains were not crowded. We had group 7 and were off the cruise ship around 1:30. In town, we opted to take the Conch Train Tour. We also added the Hemingway House. We enjoyed both experiences. The tour is well worth the cost if you have not been to Key West before. We took the docent-guided tour at the Hemingway House and found it to be very informative. We walked back to Mallory Square along Duval Street and ate a late lunch of Sloppy Joes and Sloppy Ritas at the famous Sloppy Joes Bar. It was worth the stop. For desert, we had frozen chocolate covered Key Lime pies at Kermits Key West Key Lime Shoppe. If you like Key Lime pie and haven’t tried this treat then make Kermits at must-do stop on your Key West itinerary. We actually look for cruises that stop in Key West, so that we can make a pilgrimage to Kermits. After a little souvenir shopping, we caught the 6:30 shuttle back to the ship. There was no wait.
