Galveston is a beautiful place with fantastic restaurants and friendly people. As far as port towns go Galveston is a great place to be before starting a cruise. The traffic can be hectic and the teens are wild but would definitely visit this port town again.

No excursions, but we did stay overnight at the Harbor House at Pier 21 hotel on Friday night before embarkation on Saturday. The hotel tax in Texas is high, around 13%, we paid like $42 tax on a room that cost $321. We had dinner in one of the seafood places next door, Katie's Seafood House. As it was a Friday night the place was very busy. The food was good, the drinks were good, the atmosphere was perfect for the start of vacation! Good place to eat that is convenient to the hotel. Hotel and cruise terminal are north of the main drag on Galveston.

We parked at Discount Cruise Parking and had free shuttle. Once we arrived at the port it was very organized & everyone was so friendly.

Street names are unmarked and cruise ship parking are unmarked as well very difficult to find
