The only real tour we took, the Breakers and Marble House. Both Vanderbilt "summer cottages". Interesting life they must have lead.

Newport is the playground for the rich and famous, and used to be the play ground of the even more rich. Take the tour of the Doris Duke home; we toured The Elms mansion, and while impressive, the guide mentioned that the Duke home was wonderful.

Crew giving out tender tickets were not so nice; We were told several times it was a 45-minute ride which it was not; (some people didn't go because they thought they'd get seasick). We asked how long we had to wait in the lounge for the tender before leaving, and crew said they had no idea. NO IDEA??? Who's running the show? But weather was beautiful.

Leaving on the tender boats was terrible. We got there early but people with excursions waited over an hour before they were able to go to show. Badly organized .

Had a great time visiting the mansions and really enjoyed the individual mansion tours. The guides on the tour buses were good. Had time between our two scheduled tours to eat and shop.
