We love Victoria and have visited many times. Since we had already done the main tourist attractions we did a self guided brewery tour (a theme this cruise). I found the locals to be helpful and willing to make recommendations. We also had great weather that made strolling Victoria great. The ship does dock quite a ways from downtown so I would recommend grabbing a taxi, shuttle, or pedicab.

I would rather go there first so as to see Buchart Gatdens in the daytime. This was a big disappointment and would advise no one to choose the Buchart Gardens excursion because you can't appreciate the gardens even though they are illuminated. I have seen the garden on a past trip in 1986 and was so looking forward to seeing it again. Our friends we were traveling with had not seen the gardens before and too were so disappointed this excursion is especially troubling for older cruisers. Either the cruise line needs to reverse the order of the ports or try to arrive at Victoria earlier than 6 pm.

Beautiful city! Wish we had more time here and wasn’t at night! 7-11pm was way too short!

Porting here at 5 pm took away some of our allotted port time either by it being too dark to site see or shops being closed due to the late hour. We got out on an Orca Whale excursion and it will be a memory kept with us for years to come. We encountered a pair of "traveling" Orca whales, a humpback whale as well as two varieties of sea lions. I can't exactly remember, I believe we were told they were California sea lion and Stellar sea lion.

Butchart Gardens, oh my! Beautiful beyond description. Even if you aren't a big flower person, a must see! Victoria is beautiful and everything seemed well maintained. Our tour guide, Mike, was very personable, extremely well spoken and knowledgable. A wonderful ending to all our tours.

Beautiful town. Visited the gardens and walked around downtown afterwards. I am glad we cruise with Royal Caribbean, because they seem to be the only ones that spend a whole day there. Taxis are very pricey so we got around in public transportation, which was very cheap and good.

We had visited the Garden's on an earlier trip so we took the "O Canada" excurision wich gave us a tour of the local area and then dropped us off downtown. There was an easy and picturesqe walk back to the ship.
