I booked a trip to Alcatraz directly with Alcatraz Ferries. Their dock is right next to the cruise ship dock and they run about every half hour. The audio tour of the Alcatraz cell-block is very good.

Take the F Trolley Car from the pier around to Powell and Market walk up three blocks to Union Square and have a ball! Ride the HO/HO bus, shop 'til you drop', ride the cable cars, walk through Chinatown..... The F car is a ticket to adventure -- easy, convenient and cheap.

San Fransico has changed! We stayed at the Hotel Courtyard San Fransico Union Square. It is nothing like the website shows. We were a little disappointed in it, but we only stayed overnight in order to catch the ship the next day. We did walk around the area we stayed in, but we stayed close as we did see a lot of homeless on the streets.

Sadly, the city is in disarray. Fisherman’s wharf seems unaffected but two blocks inland from the wharf is truly heart breaking.

We live in the Bay Area and have always wanted to cruise out of SF. Very convenient. The SeaView Bar has an excellent view of the city prior to and during departure.

We did a tour of Alcatraz and also the hop on hop off bus. Would have been nice to have more time, but it is very expensive to stay there.

Alcatraz and Sausalito tour was excellent. You can’t beat S.F.
