We did the dolphin excursion and it was amazing. We saw hundreds of dolphins swimming next to our boat. Never saw that many dolphins before. The whole family loved it.

Small and quant. Lots of tourists visiting for the day and from cruise. Small beaches there so bring your swimsuit in case it warms up. Temp may say 65 degrees F but remember that 65 always feels warmer in the dry west coast weather. We didn’t eat at any restaurants as nothing caught our eye but we had an Açaí bowl and kids had icecream, perfect for beach island feel. If you get the chance definitely do the golf cart rentals. Props to Island Golfcart (it’s closest to the pier). We got 3 hours for the price of 2 (valid on select days). I thought 3 hours was a bit much, but after making some stops to check out some places we ended up using all 3 hours. They will prorate you if you return earlier than 2 hours. In turn, they will charge you even if minutes late (which I think is fair)

Try to get off early, possibly 1st 2 tenders and rent a golf cart. $50 for 1 hr gets you and 3 passengers a 12 mile beautiful tour around Avalon. Well worth it. If you go over they prorate it according. Skin dive(snorkeled) off of Descanso beach. Saw all kinds of fish. Introduced the wife to Buffalo's milk. A blended cocktail. Exclusive to Catalina. Good Time.

Activities, mostly overpriced. Rented a golf cart that was good to sightsee around the island.

Good time!! We rented a golf cart for two hours. Then we ate lunch at the Lobster trap. I had a delicious lobster roll. Walked around the touristy shop area.

Taking a tour with the golf cart on your own is the way to go. We booked our cart online and got 3 hours for the price of 2. We had plenty of time to explore all that we wanted to.
