Review summary

Fun family time, relaxing and enjoyable, but I would've like to have had a few more days. This was my shortest cruise experience and it was too short!

Embarkation

Okay. The "on-time" wasn't open, so we ended up in a longer line, even though we arrived at our boarding time.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Lots of food selections. Some really tasty cakes, delicious nutty buns on 2 separate mornings, would've loved to have them every morning! Sit-down dinner was pretty good, a couple of the dishes weren't to my liking, but that's understandable. Portions were good size. Some of the dinner dishes were extremely delicious. The melting chocolate cake was SO good! Wish we'd had a longer cruise to try the taco/burrito bar!

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
My daughter went to camp Carnival, she enjoyed her time there. The mini-golf was fun. Pools were a little cold, but that's more due to the weather. Wish I'd known before-hand about the professional photos. Didn't bring matching outfits to have a family portrait. I went to the gym twice, nice to have it on-board.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
PG comedy was pretty good. Didn't enjoy the Gender Show-down. The 70s dance/music show was good.

Children's Programs

My daughter enjoyed it and wanted to go back!

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
For the most part, excellent service. One night we were the last table to get served dinner, but I think that's expected, lots of people to serve, so not everyone can get it first. My mom's appetizer was removed before she was finished with it, which frustrated her. Most of the ship personnel were very friendly and said "hi". There were a couple of people who didn't, but that's to be expected. Those in the buffet dinning room were usually pretty quick to clear dirty plates, which was nice, and they checked before clearing.

Cabin / Stateroom

I really liked the set-up of our cabin better than my parents who had a cabin just down from us. It felt more roomy, even though it was the same size. Truly the set-up of a room makes a difference.

Ports of call

Long Beach (Los Angeles), California

Catalina Island, California

Liked that there was a beach and a kids park where the shuttle boats let us out.

Ensenada, Mexico

The shops were nice, but I would've liked to be able to have a beach/play area nearby the ship. I didn't want to go into down-town, so we only visited the shops just outside the boat and then got back on.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
We weren't in a hurry and my parents had quite a bit of luggage, so we did the later disembarkment. It was nice to have breakfast available before disembarking. It seemed to go pretty fast, at least for us.
