Catalina was the last spot in California for me to explore. The ship anchors outside the city and a tender carries passengers into the harbor in Avalon. The locals were very friendly and accommodating. The island is predominantly a nature preserve which helps keep it from being overdeveloped. The inland scenery is similar to that of others areas in Cali but the town of Avalon is a precious gem with its simple way of life and little shops, restaurants and bars. Marvelous place to visit. I'm glad I saved Catalina for last as it is one of my favorite destinations in the beautiful State of California.

I was borned and raised in Southern Calif, but never went to Catalina island. We loved it, what a peaceful place to live. I would go back again.

We are frequent cruisers to Catalina Island! The weather is sometimes hit or miss during the Fall/Winter months, but none the less its a great/quick trip port to sight seeing off the ship. Descano Beach is provided as an excursion however, a nice short walk from the ship. Lounge chairs, great food and a nice stop to grab a beach side beverage. Overall, a quaint little stop!

I love Catalina Island, it is so cute and easy to walk around in without an excursion. I recommend trying Buffalo Milk at one of the many bars, it is a alcohol drink that tastes like ice cream! We go to El Galleon every time to get our Buffalo Milk fix!

Had a blast while at Catalina.. We rented a Golf Cart for two hours and went all around. And did I mention the gold cart was new. Overall Cruise was a success and blast. π³βοΈπ

This was my first time visiting Catalina (the second time was for the Catalina Wine Mixer) and it was definitely worth getting off of the cruise ship to explore the island. There are a lot of little shops to pick up t-shirts and souvenirs right off of the main strip. If you want to grab a drink while on the island, I would recommend Luau Larryβs. A fun and happening little tiki bar with a delicious drinks and tasty food.

Went parasailing. I'm terrified of heights, but the securement was so good I actually relaxed after a few minutes. Incredible views from up there of the dolphins swimming below you, other sea life playing around. Truly a worth while experience
