Cruise part parking is very expensive. There's plenty to do nearby before boarding. I didn't like the 10 hours cruising down the Mississippi before reaching the gulf. Embarking was very slow but debarkation was very fast.

Very easy to get to and not at all confusing to get checked in there was always someone to guide you through the process I would use this port again and New Orleans was amazing with amazing people

Nice and historical port! Come a day early or stay a day after so you can see.

Wonderful city. Lots of music & great food. Easy port to park, embark and leave. Porters are available and very competent.

Embarkation nightmare. Long lines despite staggered arrival. Not enough NCL personnel available. Personnel available was stressed beyond reason. Not enough signs to point to check-in. Absolute chaos.

The port of New Orleans itself was terrible. It gets very congested getting to the boat. It was much easier leaving the port. I also believe that you can access the Norwegian terminal by walking down Julia Street, which would have been much, much faster, but we did not do this, so I am not a 100% sure. We visited the French Quarter on our own before the trip and we enjoyed having breakfast there and walking around.

The New Orleans port is very congested so we always take a taxi from our hotel. The cab cost about $8/person and drops us off under the cover. Cruise employees are outside under the cover taking your checkin bags. The lines inside to check your passport and boarding pass moves well with minimal standing, then everyone sits in numbered sections and wait to get on the boat. All the workers are nice and helpful!

New Orleans is a filthy, drunken, crime ridden town which only getting worse. This city is a homeless destination and which is unsafe and dangerous. Most downtown people are drunken party types looking for a high time in the streets. The river and history of the region is rich, however, leadership has neglected what could be a fine destination and turned it over to troublemakers.
