Excellent, fun city. Took the evening Jazz, paddleboat ride - nice! Great food everywhere (Creole House). Took a bus tour around town and of the cemetaries. World War II Museum was excellent and Harrah's was fun for a quick $20 loss. Museum of Rita and Katrina was very moving. YES- lot's to do, fun and within walking distance to most.

New Orleans is such an interesting city. We mainly explored the French Quarter area and stayed an extra day/night here to really experience New Orleans. We did not do an excursion in this port but explored the town on our own. We visited a cemetery, rode a mule drawn carriage thru the French Quarters, shopped the French Market, ate beignets and muffeletas, drank Hurricaines at Pat O'briens and walked down Bourbon street both during the day and at night.

If you find the right things to do it can be very fun. We took the hop on and off city bus tour and walked around the garden district. Very nice area. Also enjoyed listening to some live music on Bourbon one night and Frenchmen another night. Food everywhere is great!

Got in late the night before we boarded so we all went to Cafe Du Monde to see what all the fuss is about beignets. They were great.

I live only 75 miles from New Orleans in Mississippi. New Orleans has become a sewer of beggars and crime. Those coming to the port SHOULD be warned to be wary of going out at night either before or after the cruise. Daytime is slightly better and safer.
