Gorgus... highlight of my trip. Took a 4 hour small boat ride over the reef, swam with reef sharks and mantra rays. Spectacular waters. Snorkelled over corals and fish. A magical experience. Must do in your lifetime. So naturally beautiful.

I joined other passengers and went on a diving excursion which I purchased on the pier. We spent time with 3 young islanders who made the experience once to remember for a long time. They took us to best places: feed the sharks, hold stingrays, coral garden, along the lagoon. They were flexible and allowed for everyone to enjoy and relax the time. They were great singers also. Passengers who did the same excursion through Oceania complaint about their experience; rushed and missed most of the places we anchored.

The sail in and out is spectacular. The scenery is beautiful. Again we were on foot and visited the local vendors. We admired the jewelry stores and found some things we really liked. No excursion. The weather is exactly what we like on vacation.

Before taking a sunset boat ride on the Pearl of the Pacific in the lagoon, we first walked to the downtown area in the late afternoon to explore our surroundings on our own. The boat ride is highly recommended for the beautiful views from the water. Enjoy some champagne as you watch the sunset.

Excursion of "Le truck" was cancelled. The previous day we arranged a private tour of the island. Delightful gentleman who was born and raised there drove us around the entire island. Saw one of the seven cannons from WWII. Explained the land is handed from one generation to another. Also, they receive a piece of land in one of the atolls. this is where the family will go fro Saturday and Sunday to destress. Best picture of us in Bora Bora was at this location.

Had dinner at Bloody Mary's. We should have just sat the bar. Seeing the gun impacments at the top of the volcanos was very impressive, even though no Japanese invader came close. It reminded me of the Admiral who said to the Ensign, "See that gun?, put it on top of that mountain."

We were surprised to see how shallow the water was for many meters, so that it looked like people were walking on water when they proceeded out to the edge of the deep parts. The number of different stingrays and sharks was incredible.
