If you're into geothermal sites, this is the port for you. We visited the Pohutu Geyser (and got to see it erupt) in Rotorua and then travelled to Hell's Gate where we saw bubbling mud pots and other sulphuric sites. We also visited a kiwi farm and saw several other sites of the area.

Loved visiting the Hobbiton movie set and Rotorua geysers and Te Puia. This was our best tour. We had a great time and really enjoyed Tauranga and its beautiful scenery. The people at Te Puia were very interactive and the meal and performances were outstanding.

We walked around Mount Maunganui which took just under an hour. Headed back to the port to get a bus into Tauranga (too far to walk). I needed to get my glasses fixed and was super impressed when the store fixed them for free while I waited.

The intinerary introduced us to a new port in NZ, Tauranga, and we absolutely loved the visit here. The magnificent beach with its adjacent alfresco cafes was stunning, and the climb up Mt Manganui presented a vista well worth the effort.

We took a tour to Rotorua on this day and it was excellent, we docked here so it made things a lot easier for everyone. Enjoyed our time in this port very much, very pretty place.
