Excellent! Good for a few days. I highly recommend the zoo, the waterfront, the museums, and just walking around.

Loved it. We took a Hop On Hop Off Bus tour of Auckland, went up in the Sky Tower, and Harbor Cruise to Devenport Village where there was lots to see and do.

We used the HOHO bus, which we felt was overpriced at $45 pp. We used this service primarily to visit the Kelly Tarlton’s Sea World display (an extra $30 pp) which was great value, especially the penguin area and Scott’s Hut display. The remainder of the HOHO bus trip was chaotic, with half of the time spent waiting for passengers to fill whatever seats happened to be empty (no standing allowed apparently), having to do this as they negotiated the steps on the double-decker bus without tripping over prams etc which were stored in the aisles and exit of the bus!

Auckland is a great city but this time we did a wine tour through the ship over to Waiheke Island. First we had to wait an hour for everyone to show up. By the time our group got on the fairy it was full to capacity. Our bus driver on the island had a cold and his driving was shocking (stalled the bus a number of times and ran over someone full size rubbish bin). Half the buses air-con didn't work. Tour went from 9am to 3pm and no lunch or opportunity to have lunch was provided. Wouldn't go back to Waiheke again.

Gave this port 4 stars only because once disembarking we were only focused on making our way to the Skycity bus to the airport so did not truely experience Auckland. The ride took around 45mins but was made enjoyable looking out the window at everything.

This was where we disembarked. We had already pre-organised a trip to Waitomo Caves and therefor had to pick up hire cars and move on fairly quickly. We did note that the city is having there transport infrastructure upgraded with a light rail - it should be good when it is completed however at present it is causing a lot of congestion and a lot of shops were not open during our short stay there.
