Have done Airlie beach five times and have only just found a excursion we laughed and enjoyed so much! The local aqua duck is the way to go... informative and comical all the way. Danced and acted a fool like each and every person on board. Way to go guys totally recommend.

The trip to the Great Barrier Reef was 2 hours each way through somewhat heavy seas. If you are at all queasy, take seasick pills before the trip. Several people on the boat were very sick and did not share in the experience.

We never actually make it to the beach here. We went diving off the Great Barrier Reef. The catamaran picked up us right off of the ship and took us to and from the reef.

Looking back at my memories. I can highly recommend ocean rafting tour and if your looking for something free to do honeyeater lookout has some amazing views from the top.

Airlie Beach is a delightful tropical location with plenty of things to see and do. On one cruise we had plenty of OBC and did a fixed wing flight out across the Whitsunday islands to the Barrier Reef and back. Stunning views of Whitehaven Beach and the coral reef! There are plenty of other activities available but if your budget is limited just walk to the Airlie Beach Lagoon - a beautiful man-made pool and play area to swim and relax at. Beware of long tender queues when returning!
