Third Brazilian port of call and the protocol for getting on and off the ship was nothing like Fortaleza. So easy to just walk off and back on. Did a shore excursion from Riotours when we walked to the cruise terminal. Paid a quarter of the cost of the same tour offered on the ship. Rio is a beautiful city. Lots to do and see.

Had a great time in Rio, visiting the main city attractions and enjoying the food. Shout out to our private tour guide Gustavo for giving us a great experience. The carnaval at the Sanbodromo was amazing. It started around 0930 pm and we left around 0600 am and it still was not over. The lively atmosphere was still going on strong. Experience of a lifetime.

our attendance at CARNEVAL was an incredible highlight. Ships personnel and local tourism people made attendance at the SAMBADROMO flawless. The scale of this event is truly overwhelming. On our return to the ship at 4 A M, we had only seen 65% of the samba schools. This was our choice to return.

This is a great port of call but be aware some parts are very run down and are dangerous to wander around. Follow the ships advice and don't flash the cash ware expensive jewellery or carry expensive cameras etc. One person had her necklace snatched whilst out and about. We went around all the main sights and they were amazing but the main thing was the carnival , which was truly a sight to see

Very nice stop for basically 3 days. Going to the Sambadrome Carnival Parades was the highlight. Took four excursions that covered all Rio has to offer from Christ the Redeemer to Sugar Loaf to Copacabana Beach, etc.
