We took the tour to Colonia. It was a long bus ride but an interesting old town that included lunch.

Montevideo is not very impressive, as far as we could tell from the pier. We took an excursion our into the countryside to visit a historic town (Colonia del Sacramento) and that was very interesting and well run.

Had a private tour throughout the city and learned of the history and the neighborhoods. Enjoyed the riverfront and the park areas.

We arrived on a Sunday and everything was closed. I think more things opened up (much) later in the day but by then we were back on board.
