Did not explore the port and surrounding area. Excursion by RCI - the best of Costa Rica . Tour by bus , some exploration by foot, wild life sightings, lunch at a restaurant, shopping opportunity, stop at a fruit stand and samples of exotic fruits , river tour with alot of wild life including a gigantic 18 foot crocodile. Princess should contract with RCI for tours as they seemed to be well organized and provide better quality excursions.

We thoroughly enjoyed our Tarcoles river tour in Costa Rica. We would like to spend more time in this beautiful country.

The excursion was great. We took a boat ride on the crocodile infested river where we saw many crocodiles and a boa constrictor and a crazy boat driver who seemed to have no fear of the crocodiles! We visited a fresh produce market and got to taste a multitude of things. We learned about agriculture in the area and subsistence living of the locals. We also ate lunch at a local cafeteria that was very good.

I have never, in my life, seen a beach so filthy and dirty with crap. You think they could have inmates take field trips to clean this dump up- but no. The beach is covered in trash and garbage and even the water was brown. I thought Costa Rica was supposed to be beautiful?

Took the bus, train, & boat tour. It was okay. Train went thru residential neighborhoods and all the little children came out to wave. That was a highlight. Saw one alligator on the boat portion and a lot of birds.

This was our first time to Costa Rica. I have to admit that even though it was lovely in a quaint way, my favorite find was a cafe with free Wi FI. Communication on the ship is so expensive and 21 days is a long time to have limited communication with home.

We did the Pacific train, boat and bus adventure. We got to see a lot of wildlife and the train ride was the best. The tracks were at times not quite together and it reminded us of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance kid. The most impressive part of the train ride was when the conductor blew his whistle and the locals ran out to greet us with large smiles and waves. We waived back and I saw the condition of how they live and the condition they are in but still all smiles. It makes you think of what is really important. Their Christmas trees were lit and on the front porches of the homes who had porches. We thought that odd but then thought, they wanted us to see their beautiful trees and how they decorated them.
