Took a tour to Antigua which is a 90 minute driver there and another 90 minutes back and we spent about an hour and a half in the town, but I’m glad I went. It is a beautiful town. It the vendors tend to be very persistent.

Wen on a 9 hour tour of the Mayan Cosmology & Ancient Ruins. We had Rita as our guide and she was wonderful in explaing everything about their country. I would do that tour again. We had an excellent lunch. a funny thing happened on the way back to the ship...since we were early from our tour the bus driver slowed down to about 40 km per hour as we could not arrive back at port early.

The pyramids were interesting, however, not as restored as ones in Mexico.

I liked it very much. We took a taxi for about $60 to downtown area. It’s pretty far from the port. Long drive. It totally worth it. Just tell the driver don’t take you to the jewelry store. They all try to take you there. I guess store owner pays them. Ask the driver to take you straight to the local market and city hall district. They have very nice coffee shops and beautiful buildings. It was the best port on the way to Panama and back. All the rest is trash.

Nice comfortable area just off the dock with restaurants, bars, and souvenirs shops.

Antiqua is unique. Be prepared to pay to take pictures of the women carrying the bundles of colorful cloth on their heads.
