This port is good if you take an excursion. We took a tour with Relax Day Tours. Excellent tour for the price of $55 per person. But warning: The coffee at the fruit stand is $5 per bag. You can buy it for two bags for $5 at one of the vendor stalls in the port building.

Took the best of Pureto Limon excursion. Loved the bus tour thru the country side. Loved the tree top ride thru the rainforest. The canal boat ride was terrible. Crammed into a small boat that you couldnt move in. The tour took you about 300 yards up the canal. Waste of time and money.

almost third world, if you don't have an excursion, don't get off the ship. Dirty, DOES NOT cater to touists. This is where these ppl live. Not any more shopping than what you get before going out of security. Not a good place.

Did the train excursion through the country. Learned about banana plantations. Saw a sloth and a howler monkey. Too expensive for what the tour was. I wouldn't recommend it due to the price. Maybe 30 minutes on the actual vintage train. Not a whole lot to see either.

Took a private taxi tour that I booked at port. Took a private taxi tour I booked in port. Drove around the town, stopped for while at a nice beach with very clean restaurant and nice grocery/gift shop. banana palntation was only 50 feet inside gate for a few minutes as it is not really open to tour and the coco plant was not open. Kinda a rip that these were places they told us we would see and they didn't tell us they were closed for tourning, however the day was still nice.

Interesting... Not great but good experience. Did the sloth excursion... Ok you can't hold them and no "babies"... Not sure why God created this creature but fun experience

The Zip line tour with Greenway is great - book directly with them and save the cruise ship profit.

We enjoyed Costa Rica. We rented a van and driver and went on a tour. We plan to return to Costa Rica for a land holiday in the near future.
