Loved the Old City, very beautiful architecture. We did not book an excursion in advance. There were plenty of shuttle drivers willing to take us on a tour of the island for an extremely affordable fee. Aviary/zoo right at the port was free. The birds were beautiful and huge iquanas were walking around too. We really enjoyed this area. Before our trip many people had said not to leave the port area, but we were glad we did and never felt unsafe. We picked an all female tour company and our driver was friendly, helpful, and very informative. We did stop at the market at the old armory, vendors were pushy, but a simple "no thank-you" worked. Would definitely enjoy returning to this port.

We used a guide, Marelvy, that we found on Trip Advisor. She was Excellent. Very informative and was very protective of our group. We will most likely return and stay for a week. Too much to see in the short time we were there.

Took a taxi with another couple to the walled old city, had a lovely walk around the cobbled streets. Much better than we expected. Got an Uber back to the ship easily enough. At the port there are two aviaries with lots of exotic birds to get very close to. Also two anteaters in a separate enclosure, wild monkeys in the trees too.

Cartagena city itself looks a lot like Miami from a distance, but what you’re probably here to see is the “Old Town” or “Walled City” however your cruise describes it. This is a short 10-15 minute drive away from the port, and while it is mobbed with street vendors and hustlers, is very beautiful to see. We did an open air sightseeing party bus, and got to see the Fortress, an open air market, and walk on the walls themselves all while getting hammered for most of the day. It was also about an 85 degree Fahrenheit day in November. Would definitely return.

I was thoroughly surprised by the modern port of Cartagena. I had a third world drug smuggling port in mind when we came into this port. Columbia surprised me, it was modern, it was clean, and very interesting. We took a partial walking tour and were entertained by local musicians and dancers after visiting the Palace of the inquisition and a naval Museum.

The port was nice, however I have never been on a cruise where the people trying to get you to buy stuff were so aggressive. I felt like I was always in a protection mode just trying to protect my wife. This was our 22nd cruise, so I'm not new to cruising, but this place was the MOST AGGRESSIVE I've ever been to.

The Oasis park at the end of the walkway was great! Saw peacocks, parrots, anteaters, Toucans, and more. Dancers performed to music, nice gift shop, and all free.
