Constantly being pestered by the locals even when you said No to them. From start to finish. The same locals would be following us the whole time.

this was our favorite port and would have loved to spend more time there. a very short distance from the ship was a beautiful jungle area with many exotic animals like macaws, parrots, iguanas, sloths and monkeys. there was several places to grab a bite to eat and do shopping.

the city looks sadly deteriorated and there are many persistent peddlars. I found it dirty in the streets. The nice man who guided our tour did his best, and I enjoyed it as a fun, interesting tour.. I got a really lovely inexpensive emerald ring in the back of one of the Poveda shops that were part of our tour, and I enjoyed the folklorico dance troop at the Naval Museum. There's not much to see that is attractive and pleasant in Cartagena, although it has a magnificent history and importance. Several people climbed the fortress but we simply took photos. The weather was pleasant, but if it is hot in January, it must be just hell in May.

Beautiful city. Worth taking a tour. Even if you just stay in port, they have a area housing exotic south American birds, sloughs, anteaters and monkeys.

Did not appreciate the street vendors immediately in your face heavily pushing their wares as soon as you exited the tour bus. I felt like a "mark" the entire time, cause we all stood out as a tour group with the numbers on our chest and led by our tour guide. Constantly bombarded by vendors.
