Really enjoyed our tour of Old Town & other parts of Cartagena. But - WOW! - was it hot. Drink lots of water because you will lose it quickly thru perspiration. If you go sightseeing on your own, allow enough time to get back to the ship. Traffic is terrible between the ship & going into town. We were told that 3 passengers got left behind because they didn't get back to the ship on time.

Great Surprise, modern large city. Clean with very well preserved historic Spanish Colonial center. Hired and independent guide with taxi, would go back there to spend 2 or 3 days to see more detail.

We had been here before so this time we visited the National Aviary of Columbia. It was very nice. On our first visit here we did the Highlights of Cartagena, Fortress & Las Bovedas tour and we saw a lot!

We took a historic shore tour. Our guide was proud of his country and shared many interesting things. We went to the Emerald Museum/gift shop and general downtown shopping area. Many food vendors, ice cream vendors and miscellaneous vendors wandering the streets. Bought a fan for the heat.

Enjoyed this so much, we had never been their, and the country and people were friendly, if I could say anything negative you may want to learn to say No, I understand it’s a poor country, but you can only buy so much.

Did the "Walled City" tour. Tour guide was very good and informative however the locals were a different story. Very pushy trying to get you to buy things, my husband had to actually remove himself from a park bench as a lady just started massaging his leg after repeatedly being told not interested. From the tour aspect I also found they tried to cram way too much into the time we had. Very rushed thru the sites and museum we visited. Would definitely have enjoyed more time to spend looking around the area. of note I did find a local vendor selling fresh sliced mangoes - delicious!! Tour was about an hour longer than expected due to traffic and therefore by the time we returned to the ship we just wanted to get back onboard and get in the pool. There was a Free aviary there in the port which I will definitely visit next time before leaving the area.
