Our guide was adorable and very frank about everything from health care to race and living conditions. The tour we took was mostly from the bus and we were on the wrong side for photos. There were also shades painted into the windows which did not give adequate open area to photograph from the opposite side. We did get an extensive tour however and learned a lot about Cartagena

We took the Hop On/Hop Off tour of the old walled city and they took good care of us. We were warned of the annoying vendors walking the streets and new how to handle. Would have been nice to stop at a souvenir shop at end of the tour instead of just a jewelry and coffee shop.

Everything the people in Panama said about Cartegena was a total lie. The ship’s travel expert gave a great presentation on what to expect and he was dead on. Cartegena was beautiful, clean and very safe. The Hop On Hop Off tour was fantastic. We did the walking tour of the Colonial City (within the walls) and then explored the shops sightseeing on our own. The shop keepers were so nice, even though language was a problem, we worked it out. The street vendors were tenacious, but nothing like the arrogant ones on street corners in NYC. We loved it and hopefully we will return.

Too many shopping stops. Wish i'd taken the party bus or city tour. They said they weren't dropped off in the middle of hoards of merchants trying to sell you hats, cigars, purses, tablecloths, bracelets, keychains, trinkets of every shape and size. I know they have to make a living, but I think people would pay a premium for the opportunity to just learn about the history and see the actual city. We don't have people swarm you when you visit Gettysburg or Spokane or Grand Rapids. We go to learn about what happened there historically, why it's important and why people live there. It would be nice if excursions could teach us about other cultures without our having to spend our limited shore leave shopping at every stop.

So much too see. We went with Dora and we would stop for a few minutes to see something then back to the bus. She was a terrific tour guide. Next time I would like to spend more time in one location.

People are too aggressive with selling their merchandise on the streets to the point of not feeling safe.
