we wanted to go to a beachside area. The taxis were more expensive that the boat Tours! We came back to the boat & caught the minibus into Ho Chi Min City & had a great day - met some lovely people - even though we'd been to many of the sites before - it was nice to revisit. On the 2nd day we did a Tour

We took a bus from the ship into town, again to a shopping area. This was approximately 30 minutes each way so gave us a view of the local area. Very poor and run down. Quite sad to see. The other excursions offered from the ship to further areas in Vietnam were too long for us as they were mostly 6-8 hours.

Drove 2 hours to visit the whale temple and native village. Interesting sites to see, and native foods to try. Lunch was exceptional at a coastal hotel.

About 1.5 hour to city. Again not worth for the short time docked there. Don’t try to take a cab at port. All rip offs. Nothing near the port either. Closest town is not worth the time either.

Good excursion, but it took an hour to get to city from port on the bus. Not any real free time to explore. Got back to ship it was dark and time to leave.

The port is very isolated and far from the nearest Point of interest.. you only have 2 choices..pay a very expensive shore tour organized by the ship or hire a taxi that is a rip off,no english and drives dangerously..Ships dont provide a shuttle bus even for a small fee,all they do is business everything! Risky for the patrons!
