Gateway to the Great Barrier Reef. We did not use an excursion from Oceania but were able to find an independent excursion on the local dock who transported us to Green Island. Trip to the island took about 35 minutes. We were able to snorkel on our own (they provide the gear). There are also glass-bottom boat tours and semi-submarine tours on the island. Excursion was about 4.5 hours and was very well run. (Check Shore Excursions Group on line for trips that are much less expensive than those offered on the ship.)

Paid $15 for a return shuttle into the city and back. Went to the shopping centre and bought stuff... walked through a local market, back on the ship for lunch.

We booked our own Skyrail and Train tour to the rainforest. Excellent experience and a 'must do' in Cairns.

Did the reef snorkeling and had a great time, Reccomend this for sure. Water a little more murky than I thought but a good experience. Also did the train and koala photos at the sanctuary up there. Windy day so gondola was not running although the pier in Cairns sold us tickets for it and they knew it wasn’t running. Be careful here as it had tons of us late for the boat and boat was late dparting by a few hours

Our Skyrail was cancelled due to wind. Disappointing but rather cancel than be scared or unsafe.
