Not much to do near the port. You have to shuttle in and depending on your excursion go through the slums.

Enjoyed the free shuttle to shopping and beach. We didn't do an excursion but enjoyed our time on the public beach.

We did the VIP Chin Chen Itza and Ik Kil Cenote with buffet, through Carnival. It was awesome!!!!!! Only issue was it was not long enough, & I didn't want to leave!!!😪 No time to shop at port, but a little time to shop at the ruins. I got 2 native dresses (all great-grandma ever wore), a shirt, & some handmade embroidered napkins like she had too! I can't wait to go again! Our tour guide was Alejandra (?); she was a doll. We had a professional driver with no license (joke), and he kept our things safe when we didn't need them. Got back to the ship just in time.
