You get off the ship to an array of small shops, nothing worth seeing in this small run down shipping town. Do some shopping and get back on the ship!

Plentiful iguana's were the highlight along with the ruins. Take the excursion.

The tour we took cave snorkeling was overpriced and the information in the handout very misleading. 7hour tour 4 hours driving, 30 minutes to snorke, 45 minutes for lunch and if you need to use the restroom at lunch you had to pay to use it. This has never happened to me in Mexico ever.

We enjoyed the tours and the shopping, and most of all the sunshine.

Chitzen Itza was interesting - a long bus ride there. That's about all you have time for - so didn't see much else. Too many "cruise shops" and not enough local vendors

The local shopping in Progreso is nice. Merida is a nice place, though parts are very 'modernized' (i.e. Home Depot, Sam's Club, McDonald's, etc.). The history of Progreso/Merida/Yucatan is rich.
