Somewhat dissapointed

After having sailed on larger ships, the Carnival Ectasy was a disspointment. The entertainment was poor, if you could find any and the buffet was terrible. The food options were limited and the organization of getting through the buffet line was poor. Dining room was better, but still had some unedible food. The pool area is small and the deck is slippery, very few planned activities were offered. The deck were the restaurant was located did not allow access through it as their gallery was in the middle of the ship and you had to make your way through the stateroom hallways. Had a great Art gallery with a fun auction. I also was very dissapointed in Progresso, nothing to do and nothing to see, would be ok if you wanted to jump off the ship and buy a few souveners. No ice machine and no smal refrigerator in the room, you had to have ice delivered. Also seemed odd that the only news/weather station we got on tv was from Colorado. We left out of Galveston, you'd think we could at least have Texas news. Very odd. Our towel animals at night was an added surprise, I have not experienced on larger ships. If your looking for a drinking party type atmosphere, this is your cruise, cause there isn't much else to do!

Pros: Cozumel Excursion

Cons: Food

Recommends Carnival Ecstasy? No.

Food and Dining
Avoid the buffet, make sure you get anytime dining and don't miss dining in the dining room when at sea as that was the best food.
Cabin / Stateroom
OK, but if you sleep in and miss the normal cleaning time, you will need to call to get fresh towels.
Ship Quality
Small
Entertainment
Skip the opening night act and the boring cruise director's redundate information meetings
Service and Staff
Check out the Art gallery and go to an auction. It was fun!
Cozumel, Mexico
We swam with the dolphins and it was an awesome experience. Highly reccomend this excursion. Note children had to be ten to actually ride on their bellies. The staff was great and lunch afterwards was good. Afew blocks away was Jimmy Buffet's Margariteville which we also got some free snorkeling in. Not enough time at this fun port!
Progreso (Merida), Mexico
You get off the ship to an array of small shops, nothing worth seeing in this small run down shipping town. Do some shopping and get back on the ship!
