The vendors at duty free were very nice , but always trying to get you inside to check out the merchandise. I found a great deal from a vendor for some blankets...they were two for $10....in the duty free shop , the same blanket was $14 each..... The bus drops u out into the middle of a bunch of vendors and it's a long hot walk to the beach...at beach u get flocked by vendors and people wanting to database you , give massages or sell u something. One port I can definitely do without next time unless it's just for duty free area shopping.

Probably my least favorite port that I have been to. We didn’t book an excursion and that might have been our downfall! We took the bus into town and planned on going to the free beach. However we never made it! We were stopped by Sergio...who served us the BEST Mexican food I’ve ever had and 2 for $5 margaritas! We were harassed so much by the vendors while sitting there we decided the beach was out! Spent the rest of the day on the boat!!

If there was something below 1 being terrible I would have picked it. WORST EVER!!!! We asked for a refund and a trip back to the ship within 15 minutes of arriving. The secluded beach was 75 feet wide by 250 feet deep. Mexican food on the ship was better, so were the drinks. I was afraid to let my son use the equipment it was in such bad condition. When asked for the refund we were told there would be no refund. I told them what I was unhappy about. There reply was "Welcome to Mexico"

Shopping is very limited at this port, and with almost a 5 mile ride to the mainland, unless one is on a scheduled excursion, there are limited activities, and scheduled excursions take time getting to and from the activity, limiting time at the actual site. On this cruise, our tour to Merida was cancelled due to lack of participants, and we were only notified the night before with little time to consider any options. The ship's "shopper" told us that it would be "years" before this port was near any of the others with regard to shopping and excursions.

Well, $20 hour massage at Mayan Spa and it was probably one of the best massages I've ever had. Did a bit of shopping and had lunch at Crabster Seafood and Grill. The ceviche is awesome and the Craby Burger is out of this world! Best experience in this port from all of our visits here.

We did the top 10 sites in Mérida and were fascinated by the history and culture. It’s interesting how different natives interact with the colonists that arrive along with what type of resources are exploited. There are beautiful colonial homes and a cathedral in the city square. We visited an old bakery and bought $3 USD worth of pastries that would have cost $30 at Starbucks that were freshly made. Paul was a great guide but the drive was about an hour 1-way to Mérida. The city isn’t dependent on tourism so it’s a completely different feel from Cozumel. If you want to see other cultures as they live normal life, it’s a good place to visit.

Took the Mayan ruins excursion which included a stop at a salt farm , flamingo sanctuary, then ended up at a beach club which included food and drinks , IT SUCKED Very unorganized, tour guide didn’t speak English so he couldn’t answer any questions that our group had definitely a waste of time and money , woulda had a better time staying on the boat and recovering from all the fun I had the day before at Mr Sanchos in Cozumel.
