Review summary

Spent way too much money considering the cruise was fairly expensive already. I wish I knew that excursions are necessary to have fun and not be badgered all day.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
Embarkation was smooth and quick. No problems at all.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The 24/hr pizza was really good I thought. Breakfast buffet was also great with lots of choices. Guys Burger joint by the pool was really good. The taco place right beside it was a disappointment. No chips and no queso? No bueno. The dinner menus were different every night and had some good choices. Nothing stood out as amazing but it was pretty good. Drinks were strong and delicious but also expensive.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Some on board activities were fun. Cruise director Ben was awesome and so talented. We went to the game show thing the first night. It was a game we didn’t know this so not interested. Every other day we just kinda wintered around trying to find something to keep my nephews entertained. There WAS. An arcade game room which would have been awesome but like everything else you had to pay to play. I understand paying for games with prizes but the others? Annoying. Some nights they play a movie. It would be great if there were movies going 24/7 in one room, even if it were the same 5 movies over and over. Would be a good way to wind down.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Cruise director Ben provided a lot of entertainment. There was one day at the pool that there was a “sexy dance competition “. It was guys dancing and girls were the judges. It was hilarious for me but not so much for my sister that has 3 little boys. It was out at the pool where everyone is on sea days. We were told the cruise was very family friendly but this obviously wasn’t..

Children's Programs

2 out of 5
Definitely need more things for kids to do. Maybe more movies, parades, scavenger hunts for kids with fun prizes?

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The service we received was phenomenal. All of the staff worked so hard. I never once saw anyone slacking. They were constantly cleaning, entertaining, playing with the kids, conversing with the guests- they were amazing. They learned our names and were always so happy. Ironically the only EXCEPTION was with Guest Services. They were rude and not helpful at All.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
I wish there were separate categories for cleanliness and design. It was clean bc the staff never stopped cleaning. The design needs work. There are 2 glass elevators in the atrium. We witnessed a little girl get her hand caught in the elevator door. She screamed and cried bc it hurt. Then later that SAME DAY the door sucked my nephews hand in the door. Coincidence? No way. We took him to the nurse bc we thought his hand was broken. Luckily it was just badly bruised. We talked to guest services and they couldn’t care less. We told them about both incidents and said they need to put a sign up but of course nothing was done.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
It was fine. Small but that’s what I expected and I only slept there so who cares?

Ship tip

Be prepared to pay for anything and everything other than food. Drinks are expensive, pictures are expensive, games for kids are expensive. Oh and definitely book excursions. Don’t expect that they are gonna drop you off at a beautiful beach. I thought excursions were for swimming with dolphins or doing something like that. There are public beaches but be warned they aren’t nice and the ppl there will come up to you every minute trying to sell you something. Not relaxing at all. So do yourself a favor and book a trip to a private beach. But book with someone other than carnival. There are plenty of businesses that are at the port that are a fraction of the same exact thing!

Ports of call

Mobile, Alabama

Not great but not bad.

Progreso (Merida), Mexico

Beach was gross and we were badgered the whole time to buy something. Ughhh. I didn’t know you needed to pay a lot of money to cruise and then pay more just to get to a decent beach.

Cozumel, Mexico

4 out of 5
Cozumel was great but only bc we booked an excursion with a different company other than carnival!!! Went to Chankanaab and it was great. $21 for adults $14 for kids and 5 and under were free

Disembarkation

Went quicker than I thought it would

Independent tour guide companies are available at more reasonable prices.

A little research beforehand can work wonders.
