Did the Mayan ruins tour that was closer to the ship so we didn't have to spend all day on the bus. My sister and I immensely enjoyed this excursion. Our tour guide adam was entertaining and knowledgeable about the ruins and the Mayan people. 40 minutes to and from the ship and we got to spend time both with our guide and on our own which we enjoyed because you could go at your own pace and see what interested you. We would highly recommend this excursion for people who want to see the ruins but dont want to spend all day on a bus. We even had time to do a little shopping and it definitely begs repeating to book an excursion in this port or be prepared to get hounded by the locals but a firm no thank you and walking away did the trick.

Great time we did the beach buggy excursion stopped at the ruins salt pits and beach club uncle chuey was amazing and funny I highly recommend this port I was never harassed like in cozumel can't wait to go back

Don't jump in the water near the docks, obviously. There has to be at least 100 jellyfish within a 3 foot distance between clusters

Progresso is certainly not pretty in areas but people are friendly and again the shopping was fun. We went on the VIP excursion and had a great time It's only for Carnival ships so numbers are limited and it was at a house on the beach. Food was great and they had open bar and served you constantly on the beach or by the pool or in the hammocks. Had an area for massages which wasn't included in price but there was no one pushing you to take a massage if you didn't want one. Everything else was included. Salsa dance class was fun and the staff were great. Would recommend this one as
