We got advantage of a GREAT excursion to Uxmal at this port. The bus ride took about an hour but the guide gave us great info during this time. The tour was amazing... one of the few Mayan ruins that you can still climb and go inside of... really hands on. The site has great shopping and a authentic restaurant. Clean bathrooms. So cool to see the ruins in the jungle yet to be uncovered!!

Progreso is small, extending just a few blocks south of the water and 5 or 6 miles east/west following the shoreline. The dock is connected to the mainland by a 7km, 4.5ish mile pier. Buses run every 10-20 minutes, and the 15-20 minute ride from the dock will drop you off just a block and a half from the beach. There are many souvenir stores just as you step off the dock before you can get on the bus. same shtick as the mall on the dock in Cozumel. We scurried through these as we knew we'd have to walk back through them before you can get back on ship. We found better deals in town. Had fun walking around and visiting with the locals. Get a massage on the beach or elsewhere for $25 U.S. The beach is beautiful with food and drink service to the beach from Los Henequenes restaurant and bar just across the street. Wish we had more port time here. The ship was back underway by 4pm.

We took an open-air bus tour of the city, which was interesting. The guide was knowledgeable and friendly and spoke English very well. After that we walked (two blocks) to the public beach and shopped in the local shops, not in the shops located on the pier.

this was the most eye opening and wonderful place to visit. the experience is heartening and honestly makes us be thankful for what we have! the excursion was AWESOME. The guides were exceptional and the comfort of the whole experience was fabulous. i would o recommend the ruins and lazy river and cave swim to All who have the opportunity to visit. the food at the restaurant is good and was just good all the whole time.

We did a beach day & had a nice time. beach was clean. The locals were friendly. The water was a very comfortable temperature. Nice sandy bottom makes it easy to walk without water shoes.

I was a little skeptical about Progreso. I had never heard of it but it was probably my favorite part of the trip. You get to experience "real" Mexico. We had a massage on the beach for $16 (30 minutes)! We ate at a restaurant on the beach (don't remember the name) that was really good and the price was great. Progreso was a nice change from the touristy stuff.

Industrial port town with the distinction of having one of the longest, if not THE longest pier in the world at over 4.5 miles long . We did a private tour with Lawson's Yucatan Tours to Uxmal ruins and the chocolate museum across from it. The tour was excellent for both my wife and I. We got to see the ruins, chocolate museum, a couple of nearby towns , the outside of Hacienda Yaxcopoil and we also had a home cooked Yucatecan meal for lunch at a family's home. Highly recommended Lawson's for a more private cruise excursions in the Yucatan. It may be more pricey than what the cruise line offers, but it was well worth above the price we paid .

So this is a hard place to review. When you port, it looks like a military compound - a little intimidating. We had no plans because we couldn’t find many good reviews, but there was a tent set up for a Corona Beach Party. We actually had a blast chilling on the beach, playing volleyball, dancing, and doing the limbo, of course. They include an hour of unlimited booze, so they loaded up a table of drinks for our group. Needless to say, we left pretty loaded as well. Fun time!

We just shopped at the port. We Were surprised how much It had grown since the last time we were here. The people are very friendly and we had a wonderful time browsing all of the stores.

Silcer Beach all inclusive resort $35pp - small, funky (in a good way), hole in the wall resort with beach access, great food & plentiful drinks. There were 10 in our group, we pulled a couple of tables together, put out a $20 & our server kept the food & drinks coming. Another $40tip when we left (full & tipsy) - great way to spend the day!! Buy your tickets at the port - all the way out of the shopping complex
