We really didn't get off the ship here except to go to the little shops at the port and it was pretty nice.

This is my least favorite port. There is not really anything to do in Progresso. Most people stay on the ship. Most excursions take a bus ride that is at least 30 minutes to the city of Merida. Ruins take a lot longer. The water is nothing better than Galveston. Save your money on this port it's better to stay on ship.

Went on excursion to the all inclusive Tecno beach club. Food was limited to chips, nachos, refried beans, rice and cut up watermelon and pineapple. Alcoholic drinks were weak, soda was served in 8 oz cups from liter bottles, so you had to keep asking for refills frequently. Same with the beer. They would not give you an entire bottle. The beach area was small and very crowded. Not enough beach chairs. Staff in buffet area was rude but bartenders were friendly.

We did the Uxmal Mayan ruins. It was a long hour bus ride there and back. BUT It was a great site and our guide was amazing. We did get pulled over by the police and he had to get out on the way to the site. And went through a police check point gong back where they were looking for drugs quiet scarey. (especially seeing one of the officers peeing on the side of the road)

Not much in way of shopping at port - did the free shuttle into town. If doing an excursion at only one port, I would suggest it be at Progreso. Not much to do within walking distance.

Same thing as we told Carnival; unless you are going on an excursion don't even bother getting off the boat. We decided to visit the town, relax, walk around and maybe get some lunch. This town is 15 years behind every where we've been in Mexico; construction everywhere, beggars, hassled by vendors. There is only so many times I can say "No tenemos hambre"
